This highway is the part of the ambitious golden quadrilateral project. It's called quadrilateral project, as it forms a quadrilateral connecting the four major cities of India. It's the largest highway project in India and 5th longest in the world.

The project was the vision of late PM of India Atal Bihari Vajpayi, who laid the foundation for the project on 6th January 1999. Good roads are sign of good economy. This highway has cut down the travelling time substantially and making it more safe.

This pictures were clicked during recent road trip to karnataka. It was always a dream to click an aerial shot of a highway. And finally I could do it during my recent roadtrip.

Lakshman Jhula is a suspension bridge on river Gganga, situated in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The bridge connects two vilages Tapovan on west bank to Jonk on east bank. Lately the bridge has turned into iconic landmarks of Rishikesh.

In Indian mythology it is said that, Lakshmana crossed river Ganga on jute ropes where this bridge lies now. Hence the name Lakshaman Jhula. The construction of bridge was completed in 1929.

Lakshman jhula offers a panaromic view of river Ganga and city of Rishikesh. Your trip to Rishikesh is incomplete without visiting Lakshman Jhula.

Bara Imambara is a gathering place for observing azadari, mourning and lamentation for the Imam Hussain, grandson of prophet Muhammad. Who was brutally killed in battle of Karbala in 7th Century. The Imambara was built by Nawab of Awadh, Asaf-ud-daula in 1784. The architecture of Imambara looks ahead of its time, even after completing 2 centuries the Imambara still looks grand and beautiful. It has near about 489 identical doors which makes it a labyrinth (bhool bhulaiya), due to which you're not allowed to visit without a guide. We were just mesmerized by the symmetry and the precision of the architecture, considering the period in which it was built. Whenever you get a chance to visit Lucknow, make sure you visit Bara Imambara.

Statue of unity belongs to the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Statue of unity is the world's tallest statue with a hieght of 182 m (597 ft). Located on the river island of river Narmada, facing Sardar sarovar dam. The statue was built by public private partnership model.

After studying numerous statue across the country, a team of historians, artist and academics chose to proceed with design of Ram Sutar. The statue is larger replica of the statue installed at Ahmedabad airport.

Sardar Patel had a prominent role in Indian independence movement and unification of princely states in India, to form a single Union of India. He was the first Home Minister of Independent India. The project was dubbed as "Gujrat's tribute to the Nation".

Spiti, which literally translates to "The Middle Land" as it's located between Tibet and India. It's a cold desert mountain valley, to the north east of Himachal Pradesh. Its one of the least populated places in India, which also makes it least explored place.

The climate and terrain of Spiti is very harsh, but it also has got one of the majestic views. During winters the valley is cut off with rest of the world, due to heavy snowfall it receives. Spiti valley is also home for rare and endangered snow leopards.

When you visit Spiti Valley, it seems time has stopped here long ago. As new roads are getting constructed, the valley has got more accessible now. Which is giving rise to the tourism in region. Best time to visit Spiti valley is during summers, between March to September.

Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the Bridge in the Sky is a bridge in Demodara, Sri Lanka. It's one of the best example of colonial era railway construction. The Bridge has lately become a very popular destination between the tourist. As the Bridge is located in the tropical forest of Sri Lanka, it's quite popular between the photographer.

Trust me this is not a painting, it's a mesmerizing picture of Chandertaal Lake. This beautiful, mystic and serene lake is situated in north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Very few people in India, know about this magnificent lake. The lake is also mentioned in Hindu mythology like Mahabharata. Locals tell the story of how Yudhistir entered heaven from Chandertaal Lake. When you actually witness the Chandertaal Lake it looks heavenly, with the huge snow clad mountains at the end of the lake seems like the door to heaven.

With the tourism increasing in the ladakh and himachal region, spiti valley is still less explored. As reaching to the places in Spiti valley is quite difficult. To protect the ecology of the lake authority doesn't allow tourist to stay near lake, so you have to stay at the base village camp. Make sure you plan your Chandertaal accommodation in advance as there are limited tents available there.

Chandertaal lake was the highlight of my Spiti valley trip. I know after looking at the picture you're tempted for your trip in Himalayan mountains. The Spiti valley has the most extreme temperature, roads etc. But the view it offers to it's visitors is one of a kind.
