Welcome PORTUGAL!

What a lovely group! Long flight from Seattle, but eight of us made it no problem. Today we checked in, walked to a couple of beautiful parks, and I gave our group there, subway/metro tutorial. Arrested before dinner, and we will hit the town hard tomorrow.

Day 5 of our Meaningful Trips Norther Lights Quest adventure was truly one of the most epic adventure travel days ever!

We we blessed with perfect blue skies and unseasonably warm Match weather. Our group of 11 explored ice-choked, glassy calm, Jokulsarlon Lagoon. Across the road is famous Diamond Beach where little ‘bergie-bits’ get washed back up onto the black sand. Then, we all set out for our glacier trek and ice cave exploration. With crampons on, ice ax in hand, we hiked on Falljokul Glacier.. a tiny arm of massive Vatnajokull Glacier.. Europe’s largest glacier. We even got to hike INSIDE a massive icy-blue crevasse! So fricken fun!

(Not shown here, but later in the day, we also had fun making small stops exploring an area that was hit hard by a glacial flood, as well as a gorgeous waterfall. )

in my almost 3 decades travel, I could honestly say that this was one of the best, most epic adventure days ever.

Every year I take my Meaningful Trips tour group to Baja Mexico for a week of adventure. Yesterday, our last full day, was spent gray whale watching at Puerto Chale on the southern end of Magdalena Bay on Baja’s Pacific side. Every year in January and February the gray whales migrate here from Alaska and enter the protected bays to give birth and nurse their calves. The whales have the freedom of the entire bay and ocean and, without any doubt, they are choosing to come close to us and interact with us…. How amazing nature is. How lucky and blessed I am ❤️🐳
