In fact our resort is in such a perfect setting it suits anyone looking for the peace and tranquility of the Thai Countryside, with amenities, the beach and town nearby." The Fishery

Situated amongst vibrant rice paddies shadowed by a panorama of dramatic limestone mountains; Jurassic Mountain Resort & Fishing Park possesses the most striking setting of any fishery in central Thailand. The lake has been intricately designed, excavated and stocked for the specific purpose of sport fishing. Each of the seventeen swims surrounding the lake offer space, comfort and convenience while fishing. Siamese carp are so abundantly stocked they form the mainstay of the angling experience. With Siamese carp in excess of 50lbs quite common, and some specimens in excess of a 150lbs there's simply no better carp fishery in Thailand. The prolific carp catch rates coupled with variety from Thai and Amazonian exotic fish species growing to enormous proportions, forms an unequalled fishing experience. Jurassic’s ongoing stocking program means anglers will enjoy an ever increasing variety of fish species selected primarily for their sporting qualities. Currently their are 17 species stocked including Giant Siamese Carp, Mekong giant catfish, Indian Carp, Arapaima, Amazon redtail catfish, Thai Redtail Catfish, Tambaqui, Chao Praya Catfish, Niger Ripsaw Catfish, Giant snakehead, Tambaqui, Giant gourami, Pacu, Alligator Gar and more.

His smile says it all...

Bob was on top form over the course of the three days he spent at Jurassic constantly working the swim and watching the water. His keen eye and consistency meant he was never afraid of a recast and only settled once he was confident that both rods were fishing effectively. His efforts were duly rewarded as the fish tally continued to rise occasionally pausing as he posed for the camera.

Steve and Matt both grew up in Essex together where they used to fish on the rivers Severn and Avon in search of big barbel. Steve now lives in Singapore where he works for an insurance company whilst Matt remains in Essex and operates as a pilot for Easyjet. The pair have traveled to Jurassic for the 6th time for their for 2 days as part of Matt's 30th Birthday celebration and what a way to spend it.
After reeling in to head for dinner Steve encountered a double hook-up so he stepped in to assist in the marginal action which resulted in this brace of Amazon redtails.

This is the time of year when the season starts to change as we head into the rainy season when all the vegetation thrives along with the wildlife. So far we have experienced one big storm encompassing an impressive display of lightening and put the fishing on hold for a few hours whilst it passed. The overall cooler more constant weather conditions have been perfect for the predators and customers have been enjoying good results when targeting the arapaima managing up to 7 takes in a day.

A view from the bottom of the waterfall looking down the lake towards The Big Fan and Lover's Retreat.

After a hectic morning all had gone quiet for Christian and the tilapia had started to move into the edges again indicating to him that the predators had departed. He decided to move the dead bait rod into deeper water until the evening to see if he could pick up a bite. A strange take saw him lift into what felt like nothing at first until he wound down to find that the fish had headed towards him like a bullet. A good fight below the rod tip turned up a tambaqui and a new species for him.

This will be Freddy's second trip to Jurassic with his father Stuart and both of them have been looking forward to the . We first met them last year when they fished together and we were shocked to see Freddy land fish unaided up to 80lb. Stuart takes him fishing whenever possible including boat fishing for bass and acting as a big influence and helping Freddy progress from strength to strength along support from his mum. On this day together the pair fished from Sam's sala where Freddy went on to land his biggest Amazon redtail so far and only received a helping hand for the photos.

Mr Maddams and his wife from Australia headed over from Hua Hin for a day trip whilst on holiday touring around Thailand. He is semi-retired whilst his wife manages a holiday resort. The day was slow to begin with despite several indications which only lead to dropped takes. The tilapia moved in along the edges and the dead baits were getting stripped so he pushed the rods into deeper water and landed two tambaqui in two casts!

A finicky take that developed in to a full blown run as the fish start to home in on the baited area. Heading out into open water and steadily taking line from the spool this looks to be a good sized carp unlike the Amazon redtail that often hug the inner edges when hooked.

Mark and Angela were soaking up the sun, their thirst quenched by a cold Chang in swim 9 when they were interrupted by a take on the right hand rod. Having landed several different species already Mark could knew that this was something different again.

A golden colored tambaqui breached the surface and slipped into the net as Mark started to smile. To go and experience this yourself head over to www.birdstackle.com for a quote for a fishing holiday of a lifetime.

David had seen a few Amazon redtails break the surface as their distinctive colors give them away. He prepared a mix of chopped fish and pellet to form a slurry of smell and walked towards the clubhouse to apply it along the margin before casting a rod on top. The concoction proved hard to resist as after only a few minutes the line started to lift indicating they were in the area and atake soon followed. Booking available through www.birdstackle.com

Josh and his father Kevin were accompanied by two friends as they made their way back home to Jurassic for the 5th time. They appreciate the peace and quality of service on offer and the trip forms an alternative to France where the group also frequent.
Despite previous trips Josh has been very unfortunate and had to endure losing arapaima close to the cage on more than one occasion so when he hooked into one on the pellet and saw it surface he feared the worst. However he kept his cool and the hook held well as the fish was guided gently into the cage.

A huge sigh of relief followed by a big grin!

Derek decided he wasn't going to leave anything chance on his last day. He had been toying with the idea of fishing the float a few days previous and finally curiosity got the better of him so a change of tactics was in order. Instead of persisting with two rods on the bottom he set up a feeder beneath the float and the action started to unfold as the fish came thick and fast.
Using the wind to his advantage he managed to maintain a tight line and increased the hooking potential with his right hand rod fished off to the right on the deck.

He landed 17 fish on his final day. An epic end to an eventful trip. What a way to end!

John Dyer returned back to Jurassic being nearly a year since his last venture to the Resort. His last trip was one to top when he landed arapaima approaching the 300lb mark along with Siamese to 100lb plus.
Back in Tamworth, Staffordshire he works as a gamekeeper which has meant he has had to put his match fishing on hold and now only focuses upon a few hours spent on the fly once in a while. Given his love for the “Isle of Mann TT” he was named ‘King of the Mountain” based on his success and once again his stay has been a memorable one so far landing 3 arapaima in two days. For booking information check out Birdstackle.com for a free quote for a holiday of a lifetime.

Lloyd and his partner enjoyed a successful trip at Jurassic landing 2 arapaima, numerous Amazon redtails and Siamese carp. During his last birthday visit to Thailand he had landed a carp 100lb+ and with this trip marking the same occasion he wondered if he could better it.

Well history repeated itself within the first first hours of the day when he got to grips with this chunk and he was absolutely buzzing!

Keith is a roofer from Somerset and is no stranger to hard work up and down a ladder all day as he undertakes another job. This group trip to Jurassic has been no different as he found his footing and worked the swim for extra bites at every opportunity. Whether it be tying up bags for the remainder of the day between takes or pre-baiting alternate areas with pellet for the later in the afternoon, his efforts weren't in vein as the fish soon followed.

Michael has been balancing his time between being bankside and spending some quality time away from work with his family. Having landed several different species already, the prized arapaima had managed to evade him on multiple occasions leaving him questioning himself.
With time ticking away Michael and Steve entered their final day and all the hard work so far started to play its part as the lake rewarded them when Steve landed his first arapaima and Michael followed shortly after. A huge sense of satisfaction for them both as they went on to tackle a third before their last day was done.booking available through birdstackle.co.uk and follow the link for your Tailor made quote for a holiday of a lifetime.
