Big news in the fight against misleading food labels… The USDA just released new guidance for food companies making climate claims about their products.

EWG has petitioned the USDA to prohibit misleading climate claims on beef, and this new guidance is a crucial step toward ensuring that “climate-friendly” claims, like those on Tyson’s Brazen Beef, actually hold up.

Scott Faber, EWG’s Senior VP for Government Affairs, made it clear: “If food companies are going to tell consumers that certain food items are better for the climate, they’d better be able to show us the receipts.”

It’s time for transparency in our food system.
