About Yachtsman's Guide
We at Tropical Island Publishers have worked to maintain the original simplicity of our Guides as we incorporate the advantages of technology. In our books, we advise you how to proceed, but we expect you to be prepared with the necessary navigational skills to manage a boat without depending entirely on new-tech navigational aids. We tell you about anchorages and establishments that we’ve visited and enjoyed, but we avoid exhaustive listings because part of the fun of cruising is in the discovery.
Our full-page sketch charts and numerous landfall sketches are hand-drawn and meticulously detailed, and our photographs include aerial views and approaches to anchorages and marinas. Our Guides remain what they’ve always been: straightforward, readable, and personal.
Although we do our own research by land, sea, and air, we also depend heavily on the many readers who have provided from the very beginning their observations, comments, and suggestions. Our Guides have evolved over the years to represent a vast community of articulate boaters, marine entrepreneurs, nature-lovers, divers, fishermen, and generic travelers and adventurers — a community that includes you.
Become Part Of Our Community Our website has evolved to become a place where viewers can find cruising information, articles, sea stories, announcements, late-breaking news, and general nautical gossip. We invite you to join us as we build our Yachtsman’s Guide community.
