***Garage find***
Digging through the garage on the weekend I stumbled across an old sealed box of “Original” Mad Caddis hoodies, tees and vinyl stickers. I think they’re left overs from a trade show in 2016.
These are the highest quality, hardest wearing apparel I’ve had. If you brought one, you’ll still have it. They don’t wear out! They don’t change shape! They don’t fade! They don’t peel! Printed on ‘AS Colour’ blanks!

Seeing as 2020 is being such a dick and we’re starting trout season in lockdown, I think it’s only fair that I should honour the 2016 trade show prices.

Very limited numbers in each size, so get in quick;

Hoodies $60
Tee’s $35
Vinyl Boat stickers (53cm) $10
Vinyl Small stickers ($27cm) $5

$6 postage on all clothing (because I have no idea what it costs these days)

The “COVID Sucks balls” deal:
Hoodie + tee + small sticker + postage $90

Private message if you’re keen!

Hi everyone. If you're looking at getting that special someone (yourself 😉) a Mad Caddis t-shirt or hoodie for Christmas, please get your orders in by Wednesday to guarantee delivery before Santa comes.
Private message to order and direct deposit to pay (struggling to develop the online shop in time).
These aren't some cheap Chinese mass production garment. They're designed by local flyfishers, printed by trendy hipsters in Melbourne and tested by some of the hardest fishing, hard drinking, ugly, smelly bastards you'll ever meet! They even looked good in them.
Sizes still available: M, L & XL
Prices: $60 hoodie, $35 tee, $15 postage Australia wide.

Another great night on the local with feeders smashing the surface. Slightly different conditions last night, but bumped into a few old mates who were getting into it. Bryce has just gotten back on the fly rod after a few years chasing Cod. He landed 4 whilst the rest of us couldn't get a hook up to stick. Great to catch up with Patty Veszpremi again!

Skinny water Cod anyone? Doing it in a nice t-shirt anyway!

Last night we went after feeders at our local. This is one of two fatties that landed. I toiled and toiled on a couple of fish that just wouldn't eat my fly. That's fishing I suppose! Nice Kiel!

When your teaching to a beginner on the water, it is incredibly rewarding to see that extra large smile on their face when they catch a fish. I call it a 'special occasions' smile because it shows a genuine raw emotion right there on their face, like you'd see on a child at Christmas. It's different to their everyday smile that's been practiced and shaped in a bathroom mirror, dulled to conform to social standard or expectation. Well, over the weekend it was me wearing my 'special occasions' smile every time I saw someone wearing a top. When you've worked away quietly on something for years, then finally take the gamble and invest the family holiday savings to start it, it's more than just business. It's personal, so when you have people buying into your story and supporting you, it's incredibly satisfying, just like catching that first fish! Thanks for being one of those people!

What a great day at the Calder Fly Fishing Association Open Day at Woodend today. So many awesome people met. Plus it's always great to meet up with guys that I don't see all that often like Mark Thomas, who is probably the most prolific supporter of Australian Fly Fishing that you'll find on the internet. It was great to see him in some Mad Caddis apparel. I reckon it made in 10% tougher!

Stole this photo from Chris 'crazy eyes' Schrueders Facebook post. Great day by the guys at Calder Fly Fishers Association. So good to meet so many great people that love so much. Over 300 people through the door, not including exhibitors. We had to stop at a for some before heading home. If this was a Saturday night, I'd say by now we'd be on a drift boat..... up s**t creek..... no oars!

Did you know their is not minimum size limit for Trout in Victoria? Have you been following the debate about the size to be introduced? This survey from the Australian Trout Foundation takes less than a minute to complete, but provides some critical data to allow them to lobby for a size limit on behalf of trout fishers. Please click on the link below to complete it.

I love this little reel more than my cat! Who am I kidding, I love going to work more than the cat. It's a narcissistic two faced waste of oxygen that only shows affection when it's hungry. But I get the feeling that this little reel will be as loyal at my dogs! Thanks for the pic of it ! Now can I have it back!!!! **t

How was everyone's Easter? Did you get out on the water? I begrudgingly lent my new fly reel to and for their trip to the the . There is just something nostalgic about this area at Easter time, with the shorter sunny days, cold nights, campfires and cattlemen's huts. The wooden reel adds to the experience, we just need that cane rod refurbished to complete the package!

This was going to be our home for a night. We decided that we would be better off doing a 21km day trip into this river instead. Turned out to be a pretty good option too! Less gear + less food = lighter packs and easier fishing. Great day too!

Just had an awesome parcel arrive in the mail! This is a Peetz hand carved fly reel from . No, it not an antique.it was made especially for me only a few weeks ago and I'm going to use it on the water. First impressions are pretty good. Smooth timber and polished brass and much lighter than I though. Adjustable clicker drag, I'm pretty excited! Thanks
