I am on a quest for truth, beauty and a quiet joy. I am an artist, a writer, an explorer " ~ Unknown " Man's heart away from Nature becomes hard" Standing Bear

Inspired by a friend and my new surroundings in British Columbia..my love for photography has been ignited once more and the passion of capturing the world as I see it in moments as I experience them has become necessary to my existence.

I hope to always convey my love and respect for nature, landscapes, intimate or grand. I hope to communicate many of the moments that have simply taken my breath away and occasionally brought me to my knees. Your comments are welcome and appreciated. Please private message me if interested.

As a photographer and like many others like me, a list of places to photograph is a work in progress. Just last summer I went in search of this spot. Many of you may recongize it and some may not. The view from where I was standing was gorgeous. The sun was hot. It was humid, you know that humidity that Toronto is well know for? That humidity. I didn't stop me from exploring this place. I was bent on finding this view. I sat there on the edge of the cliffs observing and waiting until I felt my shot. I can imagine what a sunrise must look from here. That's another photo for another time. If you get a chance go and see this place. It's not too far from Cherry Beach.

Over the last few years I began to explore Toronto in my own photographic way. Meaning, I used my camera and my eye to capture scenes that creatively appeal to me and to capture the essence of a landscape or cityscape that spoke to me. I begin here because I was raised in Toronto, and it is a place I still call home although I live in Vancouver, my second home. Although I travel back and forth, the beauty is that I see both cities with fresh eyes each time I return.

When I was in Tuscany the poppy fields were extraordinary! Large fields and poppies as far as the eye could see. It left an imprint in my mind. It's easy to love poppies for their delicate beauty and the way they sway to and fro in the wind without breaking. Delicate yet strong and their unfolding is really beautiful. I marvel at all of them. No matter what stage they're at.

I always have believed that nature teaches us lessons, if we only look closely and listen. For the last couple of years I've enjoyed a tiny field of poppies among other wild flowers down a street which it divides. I go back there at this time of year to recall memories of Tuscany.

Enjoy. Please comment and share if you like.

I'm back. I hope you continue to stay with me here as I update my photo page. Enjoy and feel free to comment.

There hasn't been anything this exciting in Vancouver since. Well, the red umbrella project was very close but this was extraordinary. I'm so glad I got to experience this. And photograph it.

Janet Echelman’s 745-foot long aerial sculpture entitled "Skies Painted With Unnumbered Sparks, is leaving Vancouver in a couple of days to tour other cities. I have gone twice to photograph it. The music, the colours, and the feeling I got standing under this amazing piece of art was surreal. At times it looks like a huge net over the city, other times like a huge kidney bean with a whole in it or a big spider's web and sometimes it like a giant jelly fish suspended in the air.

It a beautifully fluid piece set among the straight, hard lines of downtown Vancouver's architecture. It's lovely to watch and see the different graphics projected on it and as it changes colours I see it as a landscape changes with the seasons. I will miss it. It looks like it really belongs here indefinitely. I hope if your city gets that you will also enjoy this wonderful artistic expression.

I hope you like it.

“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest. The only thing that could spoil a day was people and if you could keep from making engagements, each day had no limits. People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.” ~ Ernest Hemingway

To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's a that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy. ~ Henri Cartier-Bresson 'The Minds Eye'.

“There is a presence, a silence, a stillness which is here by itself. There is no doer of it, no creator of this stillness. It is simply here in you, with you. It is the fragrance of your own self. There is nothing to do about this, it is naturally present. This fragrance of peace, this spaciousness, it is the fragrance of your own being.” ~ Mooji

Havana, Cuba

Highly influenced by American architecture, Havana is in itself a historical museum. This is also their Capital building in much needed repair as is all of Havana. There is something about this city that is still very much alive and I know I will return.
