A young & new Costa Rica based Volunteer Organization! Green Life Volunteers is a local Costa Rican Volunteer Service Organization.

We place volunteers in different projects throughout Costa Rica. Most of these projects are run by other organizations – and we provide them with “man-power”, know-how, and donations. We particularly try to focus on conservation and development projects – and we place volunteers on projects which focus on research and protection of endangered species, such as sea turtles and monkeys! We also hope

to improve sustainability and positive development in small communities of Costa Rica, by helping kids and adults to learn English (and other languages), and by promoting organic farming and reforestation! Another important goal of Green Life Volunteers is to offer one of the most affordable volunteer options in Costa Rica! Last weekend, in collaboration with our amazing partners ASCONA and Osa Peninsula Rescue & Adoptions, we hosted a great workshop at the Puerto Jiménez Public Library: Caring For Our Pets! 🐾

We covered essential topics on pet care, including Grooming and bathing to prevent diseases 🛁
The importance of spaying and neutering ✂️
Pet safety and first aid 🩹

Big Thank you to the Red Ascona Educaosa for the invitation and to all the wonderful kids who participated. A special shoutout to the supportive parents and community who make these incredible projects by the Red Educa Osa possible.

One of the best parts of volunteering in Costa Rica is experiencing the amazing food made by host families! From Gallo Pinto for breakfast to Casado for lunch, every meal is a delicious adventure. Homemade tortillas, fresh tropical fruits, and traditional dishes like Arroz con Pollo. Every meal is a taste of pura vida! 🌺🍚

This is a recent review by our volunteer Halle, from the United States. She was working at the turtle conservation project Nombre del Jesus (KUEMAR) for 2 weeks in March 2024. This is what she wrote :)

"Overall, I had a great experience working with Green Life Volunteers and Kuemar Organization. Upon confirming my stay, I received an informational packet from Green Life that had helpful details regarding transportation (from the airport, to the work site), a hostel recommendation for my traveling days, and set some expectations for the volunteer experience. Upon arrival, workers at the site explained to me the typical work schedule and details about the work we would be doing. The workers had so much knowledge and were sure to explain to me why we did certain tasks, answered any questions I had, and really got me involved with the work (filling out documentation, digging in nests, relocating nests). I learned so much about their conservation efforts and the research that is being done. This volunteering experience was also a great opportunity to practice my Spanish, learn about the area, and to meet volunteers from other parts of the world.

Unfortunately, I started to get sick while I was there and had to make the decision to leave early, but the workers at Green Life and Kuemar responded exactly as I would have hoped—offered to reach out to a physician they know, asked if they could assist in any way, and ultimately, were very understanding of my decision to go home.

Aside from the work, I had a pleasant experience in the recommended hostel and received quick responses from Green Life anytime I reached out."

Recently we had an amazing volunteer Kathy from Germany on the National Park project in Corcovado National park at La Sirena ranger station! She worked with the ADI who is the organization that runs the station, and helped with various tasks around kitchen, house keeping, and the store. We have not had such an amazing and enthusiastic volunteer in a long time, and we are happy she was able to join us here in paradise 💯🙏✅🐵☀️!

PS: Corcovado National park offers more than 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity!!

“My son and husband participated in Green Life’s biological research station volunteer program during the Christmas holidays. I cannot express our gratitude for the excellent experience they had. They are both naturalists and animal enthusiasts. They had a wonderful time and learned a lot from the experts there. The center was professional, well organized, and the people were very friendly. The administration by Green Life Volunteer’s central office was also outstanding. If you’re looking for a volunteer project involving animals and nature, this is the perfect place.”

Chiara and her boyfriend Andrea came all the way from Italy to volunteer on our Bird Conservation project, and they loved it!! 🇮🇹🇨🇷
They came in November of 2019 and wrote us a great review afterwards. You can read it below. 🌴✨

“My boyfriend and I took part in the reforestation project of Green Life Volunteering last November for about 10 days and it was an amazing experience!! We ended up in Rancho Quemado, a small village in the Corcovado National Park, where we helped a biologist and some local volunteers of the Monitoreo Biologico Comunitario association in their every day duties.It was interesting to see the many activities that are going on and we were happy to help out for whatever it was necessary to do at that moment: working at the tree nursery and planting trees, bird/mammals/tree monitoring in the forest, organizing a festival for the wild boar protection program and many others… Despite the fact that it was less reforestation than we expected, it was a really nice experience. The people were welcoming and we had the chance to see up close the amazing nature of Costa Rica (flora and fauna).
Janina, the coordinator of Green Life Volunteering, was really helpful for organizing everything about our stay, and patient to answer to our questions! :)”

One of our volunteers, Annelie, worked at our turtle conservation project in Camaronal in January of 2022. She would recommend working with Green Life Volunteers, as she writes in her review. Posted below!

"I had a great time at the turtle rescue center in Camaronal! My biggest fear was that I wouldn’t see any turtles, but on the first evening I was able to be there when around 100 baby turtles were released into the sea 🙂
Working with the turtles (morning and evening routines to observe and capture turtles laying their eggs and collecting the eggs, collecting the hatched turtles and releasing them into the sea) but also the other tasks (clearing the beach of driftwood and plastic, clearing paths, preparing the turtles’ nests, etc.) were strenuous, but all the more fun. All the employees in Camaronal were super helpful and nice – even with last-minute changes and unforeseeable corona restrictions. The same applies to Green Life Volunteers! I received a lot of information and support in advance – from picking me up at the airport to booking my hostel in San José to organizing the project. I felt super comfortable and very well looked after! All in all: a big recommendation (+ there are turtles all year round, so always a reason to register 😉"

“I can say that volunteering at the turtle conservation project was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life. I stayed 3 weeks in Nombre de Jesus and it went beyond my expectations, all the people who work at Green Life Volunteers were very kind, both during my arrival in San Jose, as at the project.
I worked directly with Ravier, coordinator of the project, and Gerardo, assistant at the time, and we had a very good coexistence in these 3 weeks. It was possible to notice their knowledge of the subject when it comes to turtles, I learned a lot.
I really recommend the project to any volunteer, besides the knowledge and gratification that you will get, I’ve also had the luck to meet other amazing volunteers from all over the world. It was amazing and I consider being a volunteer again in the future.”
