🎥@codysunkel. Antagonist Mobility work creates useful range of motion. Yes, it focuses on opening up range of motion in the muscles being stretched (by strengthening), but it also develops strength in the muscles on the opposite side of that same joint, which allows you to actively pull yourself into a stretched range of motion.
The piked shoulder extension technique in the video is a prime example of antagonist mobility at work. First, fold forward and stretch the muscles of the shoulders, then hinge back up and try to maintain the same angle you stretched to, building isometric strength in the muscles responsible for active shoulder extension.
Stretching alone is not enough - this active component is needed to make the range of motion useful.
