In the middle of a pandemic, the City of Monterey is considering lowering the level of emergency medical services in our community. The Paramedic program provides advanced life support that is critical in medical emergencies. Our paramedics are able to administer life saving medications, treat cardiac problems, and numerous other crucial interventions.
Eliminating paramedic service is an obvious detriment to public safety. We cannot fathom how this decision would fulfill the City of Monterey’s stated number one priority during the COVID-19 crisis: “To maintain public safety.”
If you believe that your fire department services should be maintained, there is an online town hall meeting where you can make your voice be heard this Monday, June 1st, at 6:30pm. Use this link to register to comment, www.monterey.org/coronavirus or watch the live stream at youtube.com/cityofmonterey. You can also write to the Monterey City Council at any time.
