The Bone Carver
Drawing inspiration from Greenlandic culture and history, Kim Kleist Eriksen (Eriagisaq) creates exquisitely detailed, story-telling pieces, primarily from walrus tusk.
Ever since he was a young boy, captivated by the beautiful tupilaks at the local workshop in Sisimiut, Kim Kleist Eriksen has been fascinated by works of art from bone 🖌️
Eight years ago, he crafted his wife’s engagement ring from walrus tusk inherited from his father. Since then, he has pursued his passion as an artist. Full time since 2018 📈
Watch him share insights about his work in this video - we promise you’ve rarely seen a talent like his.

You’ll see it glowing in nearly every window in Nuuk. The Christmas star. In Greenland it is more than just a decoration, it’s a symbol of tradition and connection. Spotting an orange star in a window outside Greenland often makes us think of home ⭐️🇬🇱 Today marks the day when Christmas stars are lit across Nuuk’s homes. For the first part of our weekly advent series, historian Ujammiugaq Engell shares the origin and significance of this important tradition. Happy First Advent to all! 🎥 Oscar Scott Carl - Visit Nuuk.
Nuuk is filled with local communities that foster a sense of belonging and joy in our small but incredibly vibrant society. These communities help make Nuuk a wonderful city to live in and visit. ✨
One of these communities is the local cross-country skiing club, NSP. The wait for all the fantastic winter activities in Nuuk is finally over. The snow has been packed, the skis are waxed, and the gear is ready. We joined yesterday's training session to get a feel for the atmosphere ⛷️
