Tropical Boats: The Resort at the End of the Road Tropical Boats is for adventuresome tourists. Create your dream vacation. We make it a reality.

We build boats and arrange tours in our own boats and can provide a wide variety of accomodations, ranging from tents to fine resorts. During a typical class at Tropical Boats you will build a Filipino bangka (outrigger canoe) during the first week. During the second week you will go fishing in your bangka with a Filipino fisherman. Food and accommodations will be provided as well as weekend entertainment.

We are now offering Tropical Island Adventures.

We have decided to offer a few tents here. We are calling the place, The Resort at the End of the Road. Simple two person tents on platforms on our terrace with a view of Matabungkay Bay. There is a swimming pool, the beach and beautiful trails nearby.

Bangkas are available for trips to nearby isolated beaches and islands.

We will provide low cost places for travelers to stay a day or a few days. No long term stays though long term rentals are available nearby from neighbors. Thelma is a good cook and Anna will help her to provide healthy inexpensive meals.

We will probably open up in early October. We only have two tents each for two people so if you want to visit you had better book ahead, 750 peso/night, max stay is 4 days. Best contact is by email

Pictures will follow soon.

Here is an example of a banga pulled out of the water on a balsa (a bamboo raft). The bangka is protected from various creatures that bore into the casco (the bottom log) as well as rot induced by wet wood.

I will be saying more about this little boat when I get a little bit of free time.

Following my friend Dennis Barret innovative effort to market the Casket Coffin he is making, the Last Voyage. What is extra cool is you can use it as a bookcase until you need it as a coffin.

As a casket for the funeral and at the viewing the full length of the canoe is achieved by attaching the bow and stern sections using wooden dowels and wooden bolts.
