Our new pattern is continuing to work for suspended fish today and forward, as Crappie do during summer months although, you will still catch Crappie in other locations.

Trolling for Crappie is working for us, now. The big tip is find the correct depth and speed and hold on and yes as previously reported, depending which lake you are fishing.

We will also be moving thru out the water Colum to connect to the suspended fish moving thru water sensitive areas. (A different and up coming conversation.)

A couple of rainy days in the current forecast.

During the sunshine the fish were biting very well. Minnows were the best, water temps rising quickly. The rain the next couple of days may slow this down, depending what lake you are fishing.

Another fantastic opening week end for fishing, 2024.

Day 2 for these clients.

Switched over to Crappie on day 2 and what a beautiful day it was, cool in the morning but fantastic conditions, calm and sunny.

Well old man winter has returned to Vilas County W.I.. Where I am located at the top of Vilas County W.I..

All lakes that I have seen are re froze over compared to 10 days ago when many were wide open and no ice. most rivers are open.

Several inches of snow has accumulated the past 24 hrs and more is expected during the next few days with some sleet and rain.

Well it is official, the ice is completely out on my lake, as these photos of a few short minutes ago were taken.

Saw 3 Kayakers earlier today and a Canoer just passed next to my shore line 10 minutes ago. What a fast change from winter.

Some years ago we saw this at the same time of year. A few of the bigger lakes will take a little longer.

As of today, some open water and black ice is common on most lakes in Vilas County WI..

Many people have been fishing the Wisconsin river for a few weeks, as well as other smaller rivers.

Maybe my last ice report for 2024 due to very bad ice conditions.

Every body, must use "extreme caution" when walking onto "any frozen lake".

Still using 2 lb test mono, small Crappie minnows and Wax worms.

Deep wood, Mud flats and Weeds are still my main stay for producing.

An under water camera is still my best device with clear water.

Again, as mentioned above, "extreme caution is advised" when walking on any frozen lake. We will all be back in our boats, soon.

No need for a big report.

The basics are working every where. 2lb test for me, not just Crappie minnows but, small Crappie minnows for Perch and Crappie and again, depending what what lake you are on.

Color can make a big difference as I have reported the last several years.

For us, a # 6 long shank thin wire hook, bronze in color with a small split shot 10 inches above the hook for the Perch and Crappie.

A few kept for to nights Friday fry.

Multiple colors of ice jigs with wax worms for the Gills, none kept.
