Believe it or not, this Trove traveler is waiting for a COVID-19 test. Beats a stuffy doctor’s office waiting room, doesn’t it? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since COVID-19 tests are currently required in order to re-enter the United States, our local teams have become experts in finding the quickest and easiest testing locations— in this case, the tests came to our group at their lovely hotel 💁‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you have questions about traveling these days? Let us know what's on your mind and check out our COVID-19 travel precautions.

Wellness in the Wild trips should create friends out of strangers. They’re designed to get travelers out and about on wild magical travel adventures, not to keep them hunkered down in secluded hotels.

We picture Wellness in the Wild travelers eating heavenly lunches at hole-in-the-wall restaurants while taking the scenic route from place to place. They’re free to bachata till dawn on a Tuesday with Trove guides as their wingpeople.

We imagine yoga class beginning with a deep breath regardless of the distance between mats. In our minds, our travelers are soaking up knowledge from local chefs, craftspeople, farmers, or historians without worrying if they’re close-talkers. And they’re belly laughing without a care in the world and ideally not through a mask.

Unfortunately, our vision for Wellness in the Wild doesn’t fit neatly into a world where s**t is hitting the fan like it is. So, we’ve decided to postpone our Wellness in the Wild trips until we’re confident we can deliver an experience closer to the one we’re knownimagining for our travelers. We’re eyeing Spring 2022.

It’s been a tough decision. Our teams in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic remain excited to host our travelers. Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic are still very much open for travel; both countries have prioritized keeping their tourism sector up and running. On top of government protocols, we’ve worked with our local teams on additional safeguards intended to minimize risk of COVID at every turn. Despite all our efforts to keep Wellness in the Wild on the books as planned, we’re ultimately going with our guts on this one and waiting for a better time.

But Trove Travels isn’t shutting down. We’ll be here doing the best we can despite the chaos. So, if travel dreaming is your coping mechanism, save some PTO for Wellness in the Wild in the Spring or hit us up to plan your own adventure.

SWIPE: Instagram vs. reality (we hope!)

Here are some of our guiding principles about food:

🍍 Eat local. We support local growers and restaurants whenever possible.

🌾 Food => Culture. We see food as a window to culture. We love to learn the history and traditions behind each dish.

🕷 Keep an open mind. These fried tarantulas were (perhaps surprisingly to you) really delicious. Don’t knock it ‘till you try it.

🌶 Be respectful. When we love a food, we tell it’s maker, ideally in their language. And I know we said “Don’t knock it ‘till you try it” but, actually, just don’t knock it at all.

What are some of the most surprising things you’ve enjoyed eating while traveling? Comment below.

Who's behind Trove? Hi 👋🏾, we’re Andrea and Erin.

We’re adventure-seekers, food lovers, dog moms, and above all, expert travelers.

Andrea has spent her career exploring social impact and sustainable development. She's our responsible travel guru.

Erin built her career at the intersection of travel and education, thinking about how we can use travel to shift perspectives.

Both co-founders think they'd win in a 🌮 eating contest. Stay tuned.

If you travel with Trove, chances are high (100% in fact) you'll work with us.
