We’ve experienced 2 hurricanes in our lifetime in the Hebrides and the thrill of nature’s force soon turned to threatening fear of serious injury or life.

Be sensible if you have a red warning in your area. Hoping it passes by without damage 🤞♥️

Good morning from Stornoway, Isle of Lewis! First light looking over the town from the Stornoway War Memorial to the Minch Sea and mainland Scotland beyond. A beautiful morning which makes us excited for the year ahead!

Our 2025 calendar is almost complete with all island, sea, swim and cave adventures open for booking soon but our whale watching tours are already open for booking starting in May. We can take private charters before then.

We (and some of our swim holiday guests & guides) met Jules & Greg during the worst few weeks of weather last year but somehow Solus Productions have managed to pull off a whole island series 💪🏻👏 despite the weather! Sounds like our swim holidays… we always manage to pull them off no matter what the weather! 💪🏻 😍

Tonight starts in Barra, one of the jewels of the Hebrides and I bet there’s a few familiar faces on this 🥰

Well done to those who made it to the chilly challenge motivation swim today. The car parking was treacherous and we had to give lifts to people 100 yards to the beach in the 4x4… 😆 Better that than any injuries though! Nothing was going to stop this lot from getting in! 🥰

Beautiful low sun and gentle rolling waves this morning with zero wind. Hope the Chilly satellite groups had lovely swims too 🥰

Remembering why we’re doing it too.. to raise money for those affected by cancer and to bring us together during winter for the 💪🏻🙏♥️

As we come to the end of another year we reflect on some of our most memorable events this year. The most memorable was the weather really! Being an outdoor business where 100% of your activities are undertaken outdoors you can feel like you’re riding on the seat of your pants often. It was a challenging year indeed but from a development point of view our best yet so it wasn’t all bad!

We secured office space, took on more staff, saw amazing sightings of humpback whales, fin whales and orca, travelled the isles, offered retreats, offered wellness with the , won a tourism award and had our 1st ever Christmas night out. 🥰 We will continue to develop going into 2025 and are excited for lots of things, some brand new adventures and some revised but notably this:

⛴️ Longer wildlife boat tours
🏊🏼‍♀️ St Kilda Day trips
🏊‍♂️ Island Adventures for novice and advanced swimmers
🥾 New Day Adventures over land & sea
⚕️New Wild Spa Retreat

We feel very fortunate to be entering 2025 with a bigger swim team, a bigger marine team and a new sauna team… soon to be announced! 🤩

All that’s left to say is a MASSIVE THANK YOU to you all for the local support and support from afar. We’ve had a blast this year but definitely need better weather for 2025 🙏😅

A brilliant turnout for the 2024 Boxing Day Dip in aid of the Stornoway RNLI!! I think we counted 42 people in the end 👏👏 What a way to blow the cobwebs away after all the Christmas rushing around 🥳🌊

Well done to everyone who dipped their toes in for the first time and those who challenged themselves in those waves. Great fun for a great cause 🥰👏🙏🌊

St Kilda, Outer Hebrides ♥️

Who’s up for a St Kilda Adventure in 2025? 🏊🏼‍♀️🥾🛥️ We have taken quite a few swim trips to St Kilda with some of the best memories! We stopped running trips in 2024 as 2023’s weather was so challenging. Thank goodness we stopped in 2024 too… those operating boat tours will understand 😅 but we’re tentatively considering putting a few on for 2025 but only with your encouragement!

I was reminded of this footage today and I’m sharing it again for anyone who might not be aware that this can happen when you have big seas and a narrow bay. Watch to the end. This is for walkers and swimmers.

This is Port Stoth in Ness, Isle of Lewis and I still see people saying this is a safe beach to swim at. There is no such thing as a ‘safe’ beach. There are some beaches with fairly benign conditions most days but this can change with storms that change the beach or power of waves. I’ve had some of my best swims at Stoth but only because of experience and understanding. Walking on this beach in these conditions could be deadly.

You can see the waves pouring in filling the beach with each one adding more power and motion but it’s the retreating part that most people wouldn’t have a hope in. Not to scare but make you aware.

Be careful beach walking with the storms we’re having just now ⚠️
