American women have served in the military both formally and informally throughout the history of the United States. June 12th marks the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, signed into law by President Harry S. Truman on June 12, 1948 enabling women to serve as permanent, regular members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. Thank you to the women veterans of Lake Norman who have served and to those who are currently serving our country.🇺🇸
