We are so fortunate to be situated next to the river Whiteadder, but we’re also a short ten minute drive to the sandy beaches of the stunning Northumbrian coastline. Here’s a few snaps of our walk from Cocklawburn beach to holy island on a springs day. We found two ship wrecks at Goswick sands, one of which dated back to 1913 and was called SS Werner Kunstmann, a steam powered cargo ship beached while transporting iron ore to German factorys towards the build up of the First World War. She carried a crew of seventeen, all saved by the Holy Island coastguard and the island lifeboat the Edward & Eliza.
