Hello everyone! Today, I want to talk about a big challenge I overcame – getting in front of the camera.

For many years, I have always been behind the camera.

As an editor, producer, and animator, I handled everything related to video post-production and production but stayed behind the scenes.

One day, I helped a client break through their fear of being on camera, and it hit me – I could help many more people feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.

By guiding them out of their comfort zone, I could help them share their messages and stories on camera.

But then, I asked myself – how can I help others walk the walk if I do not talk the talk?

So, I knew I had to lead by example.

I had to step in front of the camera and share my message.

These video recordings are challenging for me, but they are becoming easier with practice.

Recording these videos allows me to connect better with people.

It also streamlines my content creation process because I can transcribe videos into posts.

My advice to you is to face one of your biggest challenges.

Whether it is recording videos, working out in public, or dancing at a club – just do it.

You live once. Facing and overcoming your fears makes you a stronger, more confident person.

Have you faced your fears today? Share your experience in the comments.

Action Plan:
‣ Identify a challenging task you’ve been avoiding.
‣ Break it down into smaller, manageable steps.
‣ Commit to taking the first step today.

Lesson: Overcoming fears builds confidence and personal growth.

🚀 Want to stay ahead in Digital Video and Filmmaking? 🚀

When I was younger, I met a brilliant man by the name of Bart Harrison. He was always ahead of the curve in technology, constantly seeking innovative approaches to save time and money.

Bart is the very reason I remained in Florida instead of moving to California to chase my Movie Making Dream.

Back in the late 1990s, when video was merely 720x486, Bart had a bold prediction: Film is coming to digital.

He saw an opportunity for us to become the big fish in a little pond here in Florida.

Although I did not fully grasp his vision at the time, I trusted him. His foresight paid off. We became one of the first studios to work with full HD using Final Cut Pro. 🏆

Together with Bart, Champe, and myself, we pieced together innovative workflows that attracted attention from giants like Apple and Kodak, as well as numerous filmmakers and directors. They came to see how we were achieving extraordinary results at a fraction of the cost.

Sadly, my friend and mentor, Bart, passed away, but his lessons and advice still push me through. I am very grateful to have been his friend, colleague, and student. His spirit of innovation lives on in everything I do. 🌟🙏

Fast forward to today. Michael Cioni and his team at Strada are revolutionizing the industry in much the same way. Their technology has significantly optimized our workflow, saving us hours, even days. Real-time video uploads and seamless integration with tools like Frame.io and Teradek bring our creative process to new heights. 🌟

Take a peek behind the scenes in the video linked below:
Imagine the freedom of instant editing and the joy of focusing more on creativity rather than mundane tasks.

Here is a a breakdown of the video:
1. Explore camera-to-cloud solutions.
2. Implemented real-time sync tools.
3. Optimized workflows with cloud integration.

**Big Picture Advice:**
Efficiency fuels creativity. Always look ahead of the curve and surround yourself with innovators and thought leaders. By doing so, you will be ready to teach others when the rest of the world catches up. 🌐✨

Are you using video to its full potential yet?

One of the most powerful aspects of video is its versatility.

When you record a video, you create a foundation for multiple pieces of content.

Here is how you can repurpose one video:
‣ Transcribe it into a written post like this one.
‣ Expand it into a detailed newsletter.
‣ Convert it into various social media presentations.
‣ Design graphics and imagery based on it.
‣ Transform it into a podcast.

Video can be the starting point of a content funnel, leading to numerous other content formats.

How are you using video to maximize your content creation?

🎬 Find it more challenging to present on camera than in front of an audience? You are not alone!

One of the most difficult things I have found during my research is recording on camera.

When we speak in front of the public, we get instant reactions. A laugh if we are seeking a laugh, tears if we are looking for tears.

We know if people are falling asleep and need to pick it up.
We interact with the crowd and get immediate feedback on how our presentation is going.

But we do not get that with cameras.
It is very challenging and can be difficult.

That is why I recommend using a coach.

Someone who can guide you along, keep you at the right pace, and help you get the best out of yourself.

They will help show your personality and create impactful videos for future clients and customers.

My advice is to find a coach you trust.

Today, I want to talk to you about wasted effort.
When we invest time and energy into something, we expect great results, right?

Yet, many of us miss a crucial element when creating videos: showing our personality and confidence on camera.

I have seen countless individuals pour effort into their videos—adding music, graphics, visual effects, even green screens. Yet, they overlook something vital: being comfortable, confident, and genuinely themselves on camera.

If you have a unique personality—whether you make people laugh, have a big smile, or are a bit goofy—embrace it! Do not shy away from showing who you really are.
This authenticity creates a human connection, something people can relate to.

Potential clients or customers want to connect with someone who feels down to earth, approachable, and real. So, show your personality. Forget the fancy effects for now and focus on being genuine.

I am Deysen Ortiz, and for over 30 years, I have been helping people enhance their videos and video creation process. Have questions or need tips? Feel free to reach out!

🔹 The Power of Connecting with Clients: Why Face-to-Face and Video Matter 🔹

One of the best ways to build trust with a new client or customer is to meet them in person, look them in the eyes, shake their hand, and show your personality.

Show them your fun side, your silly side, your funny side.

Now, this is great if you have the time to do it. You should do this as much as you can, as often as possible. But before you meet a client in person, before you actually interact with them face-to-face, you want to build up to that.

One of the best ways to do that is through video recordings. This is because it is as close as we can get to having a human one-on-one experience.

So, my advice is to start recording your presentations, your introductions, and telling people a little bit about yourself.

Talk about your product, your business, the history of your business, and why you do what you do. Share behind-the-scenes moments and everything you can think of on camera.

This will help build trust with your client or customer.
When it comes time to actually meet you in person, they will feel like they already know you. People want to work with those they like, enjoy, and connect with.

So, when you record your videos, try to show as much of your personality as possible.

‣ If you are silly, be silly on camera.
‣ If you are funny, be funny.
‣ If you like to smile, smile.
‣ If you are passionate about what you do, show that.

These recordings will be what connects you with your customers and clients.

Have fun with it. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you and have an amazing day.

🎥 Just had a great discussion about on-camera confidence! 🌟

She wanted:
‣ A green screen
‣ Multiple scripts
‣ Fancy camera angles

My advice? Skip all that for now. No green screen. No different scripts. No multiple camera angles. Just her camera, an empty wall behind her, and recording.

The goal is to start recording to build confidence and the habit of recording. All the fancy stuff can come later.

Remember, when recording these videos, the priority is building trust and a connection with your viewers.

People want to work with those they trust and enjoy being around. Let your personality shine through your videos. Fancy graphics and music are secondary to showing your true self.

Videos allow you to connect with potential clients 24/7, all year round. Start with a simple introduction. Share your why – why you do what you do, what you enjoy about it, and what makes you special.

Let us see those videos! I can provide feedback and help you through the process. 🙂

Boost Your Confidence Today! 🚀

Let us talk about confidence. Confidence is a journey with no final destination; there is always more room to grow.

For me, confidence was shaped by my father. He taught me to step out of my comfort zone, communicate effectively, and not to be shy around people. His belief was simple: a person who is not shy will never go hungry.

As I grew older, becoming a dancer for an entertainment company further boosted my confidence. Despite already feeling self-assured, this experience showed me there was even more confidence to be gained.

Starting my own business required yet another level of confidence. Running a company means you need to be competent in so many different areas.

So, my advice? Continuously challenge your comfort zone.

‣ Go to a restaurant alone.
‣ Introduce yourself to someone new.
‣ Smile and say hello to strangers.

One actionable tip: Get in front of the camera and hit record. It might seem daunting, but the goal is to build confidence, not the product itself.

Public speaking might not be feasible right away, but recording a message is something you can start today. Acknowledge the discomfort and push through it.

Say, "Hey, I’m in front of the camera, I’m uncomfortable, but I am doing it." Repeated small steps will make it feel more natural over time.

Need guidance? Send me a message. Let us build confidence together.

Thank you and have an amazing day!

About a year ago, I met Juan Odendal through LinkedIn. He was struggling to record videos due to his ADHD, so we worked together for a few hours to help him get more comfortable in front of the camera.

I am so happy to see that he is continuing to record videos on his own today.

Sometimes we just need a confidence boost and to discover our hidden potential to share our story. 🎥✨

If you are having trouble hitting record and recording your videos, please reach out to me – I would be happy to help you get started.

I am including a recent video from Juan, who is now recording videos on his own. I am very proud of the progress he has made! 🙂

Many years ago, I had an experience with a client that taught me a valuable lesson about communication.

The project started smoothly, and I was confident in my work. According to the contract, I had fulfilled my promise.

However, there was a catch: the raw footage provided by the client was of poor quality. I noticed it but assumed the client knew and I did not mention it.

After completing the project, the client was not thrilled with the final result. They felt I should have told them about the raw footage issues or fixed it in the post-process. Legally, I was still entitled to my payment since I had done my part, but I could understand their frustration.

To make things right, I reached out to my client. I acknowledged their dissatisfaction and offered to refund the full deposit and also void the invoice. To my surprise, they were taken aback by my gesture.

He instead countered with a 50% refund, which I had not expected. This simple act of compromise changed everything. The client appreciated my willingness to rectify the situation.

Over the years, we worked on several more projects together. Trust was rebuilt, and our collaboration became stronger. To this day, we are still good friends.

My commitment to transparency reassured him that I would inform them of any issues, no matter how minor.

Though I initially lost 50% of my earnings and took a hit to my ego, the long-term benefits were undeniable. I regained a client's trust, gained more projects, and even received referrals, expanding my network further.

In the end, this experience taught me that clear communication and a willingness to make amends can lead to lasting professional relationships and unforeseen opportunities.

I would love to hear your thoughts!

New business cards design work in progress.⁣

The aim is to have a bright and vibrant image on the front, which will contrast with the minimalist logo on the back.⁣

The goal is to create something so beautiful that people will want to keep the card.⁣

Here is a tip for digital creatives:
Create sample mock-ups for your clients.
This way, they can get a better idea of what the final product will look like.⁣

It may take a little extra time, but it is well worth it. 🙂⁣
Also, link the images in the mock to the original file, this way when you make changes they will be instantly updated in the Mock-Up.

This project is still a work in progress.
Please let me know what you think. 🤔⁣

I am using Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo to create these images.⁣

A special thank you to Arabella Dance for allowing us to be part of her journey.

P.S. I found this wonderful Mockup Template for Free here:

Greetings to all Final Cut Pro Editors! 🙂👋⁣⁣⁣

I have been working on crafting captions that I can fully customize for Final Cut Pro.

Experimenting with various tools, including some from GitHub.

However, I recently needed a quick solution for a project, so I decided to try out the "Caption Generator for Final Cut Pro" from the App Store. It was free and seemed to have what I needed.

After trying it out and being satisfied with the outcome, I started customizing the included Motion File that came with the App.

I added parameters for text animation sequence controls and adjusted it so that the text fits within the YouTube Reels title safe area, avoiding any interference with the YouTube icon, UI, or description.

I have also included a test of my customization below.

In the future, I plan to add more features like glow and background controls to make the text more prominent in lighter videos.

While I have not tested this workflow in Captionator yet, both tools appear similar, so I anticipate they work similarly with advanced customization using Apple Motion.

A helpful tip: you can adjust the size of individual words by selecting the word in the text box and scaling the text size in Final Cut Pro.

I welcome your feedback on this. Thank you and have a fantastic day ahead! 🙂

One of the writers I admire on LinkedIn, Holly Crawshaw, has recently started sharing more videos.

To enhance her latest videos, I decided to surprise her by adding some extra flair to her video.

I downloaded the video using Taplio and then used auphonic.com to optimize the audio quality by reducing echo and improving clarity.

Auphonic has proven to be a top-notch tool with a wide range of features worth exploring.

Next, I utilized Affinity Designer to create an overlay and endslate for branding and a call to action.

Finally, I combined everything using Final Cut Pro and incorporated music from Artlist.io

A helpful tip for adding music beneath your voice is to adjust the EQ filter to lower frequencies that may clash with your voice, blend the voiceover and music, and apply a compressor to enhance the music during pauses.

Please let me know what you think. 🤔
