Leaving New England, I headed to Woodstock, NY for an afternoon full of record shops, funky boutiques, classic rock and cupcakes, and was able to meet up with as well. This town is certainly worth a visit, whether you’re a music aficionado or not. Drive on Levon Helm Highway, and visit his grave, shop for vintage music memorabilia or just peruse the shops. For a day of peace and love, put Woodstock on your list of vacation destinations this summer.

We started our first backyard road trip that traces the life of a writer with Henry David Thoreau in Concord, Massachusetts. With visits to Walden Pond, the Thoreau Farm and his gravesite at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, we even had time to stop at the Concord Bookshop to pick up a copy of Walden.
