Leslie Barlow shared her experience from the Donegal and Causeway Coast photography workshop, where her group explored Ireland and Northern Ireland’s stunning coastal landscapes. Guided by David, Bernard, and Marcus, they captured scenes at Fanad Lighthouse, Tory Island, and Giant’s Causeway. Despite mixed weather, Leslie, a beginner, enjoyed both the photography and the group’s camaraderie. The trip ended with a farewell dinner in Howth, surpassing her expectations.

I haven't been in the valley in over 20 years! It was so good to be back. We rode with our local Navajo guide, Carl Phillips. I have many memories of Monument Valley, and most of them are with the Navajos. Carl is incredible as he knows just where everything lines up, including the comet everyone has been photographing- just above the Three Sisters, assisted and backed up by some milk. 🤗

It was much fun talking to Carl about what’s been happening in the valley and about the families still living there. We also had our Wizard of Logistics in the truck, Jess Griffin, who was running around with her two incredible kids, taking pictures with me. After this shoot, we met with Greg Vaughn for dinner at Goulding's.
I was thrilled to get the chance to have an incredible afternoon in the valley with great friends, topped off with a chance to photograph the comet 💫

Sent in my Nikon Z8 to be converted, soo happy!!!
Since I ordered this conversion from Kolari Vision and opted in for their new OEM Hot Mirro filter, I can shoot in both IR and color, making the camera very versatile. I can't wait to get it back in my hands.
Thank you David Rosenthal for the great advice and Eric Herbolzheimer for letting me use your converted camera to catpure this pic up in Colorado.

When a storm clears, the light usually gets better, a lot better. But it’s quick, and there’s little time to capture that fantastic critical lighting. But this afternoon, the sun’s rays emerged slowly, forcing me to take my pack off and pull the camera out. I grabbed a few images and happily put my camera away. Then, the rays continued, striking down in new and exciting places. So I brought the camera out and took new images for over 20 min. LOL, it was so much fun watching this moment unfold while watching a few other hikers walk on by as if nothing was happening. But, I must be honest, this moment occurred while hiking down from the summit of Goldenside, about 1,500 feet up and then down again. I was in a reflective, relaxed state of mind, considering all the goodness in my life. This is what the mountains do to me; it helps keep my mind clear and grateful!

More from Tombstone :)
Years ago, during my first visit to the area, I anticipated walking about 2 miles across a valley to reach a small pond. My plans changed after about 20 feet. The ground is spongy and uneven; I'm talking 2 to 3-foot-deep holes surrounded by snaggy little shrubs. Every 100 feet took about 3 times longer than anticipated. This humbled me; how could anyone get along in this country? The more I study about the people who came before me, the more respect I have for them. WOW, I can't imagine walking across this incredibly wild land without other means of transportation. I suddenly felt immersed in the location when I wandered out past 100 feet from the road. I noticed how incredibly beautiful it was; wildlife more than first meets the eye and even otters in the ponds. As I captured these 4 very long exposures of the clouds moving by, I sat very still, watching the otters fish. I even witnessed them walk up on shore about 50 feet from me and gobble up one huge catch. I swear, I could see him smile as he slid back into the water.

I’m so fortunate!!!
I was able to visit with our great client/student/ incredible photographer Jeffrey Sipress yesterday. He showed me images he’s created while attending our workshops and this one, which was an amazing find. It’s of a Eucalyptus tree between two large buildings here in Santa Barbara. I’ve driven by this tree hundreds of times and never thunk 🤔
