Beautifully nestled into the lakeside edge of a lust white fence lined paddock, Wine Mountain Coliseum seems at first glance to be a beautiful turn of the 20th century Victorian barn. Native field stone clapboard siding, arch topped windows and doors, clock spires, weathervane tipped turrets and ventilation belvederes capping the stepped slate shingle roof evoke a sense of nostalgic quality and character seldom found but fondly remembered today after nearly a century. Viewed from the paddock with vistas of Seneca lake as its background, it is difficult to believe that this is a world class indoor arena large enough to allow four polo matches to be contested simultaneously. The two thirds of the structure concealed into the downward rolling mountain side, make the structure belong in its setting while providing amenities not found anywhere else in the equestrian world. Expansive warm up and lunging areas boarder the competition derbies and the main event floor itself. Sixty thousand square feet of expo sales and marketing area provides lighting and electrical power, hot and cold water, wireless internet service, and an integrated point of sale electronic service for the vendors in a secure, fully climate controlled environment. The champion’s courtyard provides a lavishly decorated venue for the world class horse farms to display their champions and market their stud services in a comfortable combination of elegant horse stalls and visitor lounge areas.
