The Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race takes over Wallowa County this January. Cheer on mushers and their incredible teams as they navigate breathtaking terrain!

📅 Schedule Highlights:

Wednesday, Jan 22: Vet Checks in Enterprise (morning) & Joseph (afternoon) — Meet the mushers and interact with the dogs! 🐕🐾

Thursday, Jan 23: Race starts at 12 PM at Fergi Ski Area. Shuttle starts at 10:45, or take a short walk to the starting chute.

Great views at Salt Creek Summit Sno-Park (Sno-park permit required).

Columbia River Heritage Trail: Located along the Columbia River, this 12-mile, non-motorized trail connects the communities of Irrigon and Boardman. It’s an ideal spot for hiking, biking, jogging, and nature study, with interpretive signs and stunning autumn colors to enjoy.

Fall is the perfect time to explore Sheep Rock at John Day Fossil Beds! Located along Highway 19, between Kimberly and Dayville, the stunning landscape is even more magical with autumn colors. 🍂 🏞️

Did you know? Some of the rocks here date back 95 million years! Plus, you’ll find plant and animal fossils in layers from 33-7 million years ago. With cooler weather, it’s the ideal time for a hike through this ancient and awe-inspiring part of Eastern Oregon. 🍁

- Painted Cove Trail: A short, easy 0.3 miles loop that offers stunning views of the colorful hills.

- Carroll Rim Trail: A moderate 1.6 miles round trip with breathtaking panoramic views—perfect for fall photography!

- Leaf Hill Trail: A longer hike at 2 miles, taking you through unique geological formations and incredible fall scenery.

Spooky season is officially here, and what better way to celebrate than at the Echo Corn Maze Field of Screams! 🌽🍂

Experience an 8-acre corn maze, a mini maze for smaller children, gorgeous sunflower fields, and the perfect pumpkin patch for selecting your Halloween pumpkins.

That’s not all—there’s a corn crib, farm animals, games, and plenty of kid-friendly activities like the straw bale maze, tunnel maze, and the towering hay bale pyramid!
