This is National Wildflower Week! Wildflowers showcase their beauty along winding highways, sprinkled through the piney woods, blanketed throughout the hill country and stretching into the plains - a charismatic display to distract us from the inevitable heat ahead.

There are six pretty and powerful wildflowers that benefit Texas ecosystems. They are:
🌼Scarlet Indian Paintbrush: Castilleja coccinea
🌼Prickly Pear Cactus: Opuntia basilaris
🌼Indian Blanket Flower: Gaillardia pulchella
🌼Prairie Coneflower: Ratibida columnifera
