Hikkim is known for being the home of the highest post office in the world, lying at an altitude of 4440 m (14567 feet) above sea-level (listed in the Limca book of records also).
The houses in Hikkim, Spiti Valley are made up of stones and mud with white coloured walls.
The houses here are in groups, closely placed, right below the road. The path towards these houses is a steep 65 degrees road. Prayer flags fluttering near the houses is a pointer towards
the presence of Buddhism in the village.
Like Komic and Langza, Hikkim also is rich in fossil life from the Indian Ocean before the
mighty Himalayas came into being.

There is a motorable road to Hikkim. Travellers can hire a cab in Kaza. Alternatively, one can go on a two-hour uphill hike from Kaza. There is only one bus a day at 2 pm that drops off passengers above the village. There are no guesthouses in Hikkim, only one homestay in the nearby village of Langza promoting ecotourism.
