Wow it’s been a whirlwind of a year! At last the Berkeley, NYC & San Francisco construction is in its final phases and then my decorating begins! Meanwhile, new projects have started. My twin sister, Jan and I have started her new pad in Campo Pequeno, Lisbon, I’m also starting the remodel of my place in Sao Bento, Lisbon plus the beach casita in Aljezur. This gorgeous red pattern tile is reclaimed from Portugal and will cover the main bath floors in the Campo Pequeno project. The original fresco on the wall in Sao Bento will be not only preserved but the star of the show and the awesome original bricks that were found under the stucco of a few walls in Aljezur will be cleaned up and exposed! Stay tuned as I go up north and then south to locate furnishings and finishings for the projects!!

This antique Chinese basket warms my heart, for it reminds me of a very special person that is also my neighbor. I have admired her while she would glide down her steps—with her fit as can be silhouette, in her black turtleneck, leggings and a grey linen cross back apron, carrying her hand washed recyclables in a basket just like this to drop in their bin. This basket is definitely coming back with me!! It’s handsome and practical!

Beyond exciting to finally locate the Berkeley island light fixture! It’s taken a lot of time, travel and effort to find it! But like all magical moments in life—it just popped up on a random day during a drive to coffee. I spotted the opal glass balls from a window in an antique shop—-the rest is history!! It’s coming home with me. It will look so great next to the RW French lights that it will share the room with💕

At last the Berkeley project is moving quickly! The drywall is on it’s final phase of being installed so now it’s all about the finishings’! I sourced this hand painted tile in Italy from De Ferranti. It is perfect for both guest bathrooms. I love how it works with the old marble design tile floors for the Primary bathroom and the hall bathroom!☺️

The Berkeley project is moving rapidly now! All the patch work in the stucco from the past century had left the exterior looking shabby. The roof was about to collapse as well to add to the shabby look. Although we cannot use wood shingles due to fire hazards, we found an original looking, time period design roof that will give the feeling of old world charm. Excited to see this in the coming weeks!!

It’s been quite the ride this past year. Berkeley and San Francisco projects are deep into their remodel. Both are framed out and new custom wood windows in. Meanwhile, new purchases made with new projects to do. Art is being collected and furnishings discovered—many great new relationships made with artists and craftsmen to make sure each project is unique and meaningful. I look forward to sharing with you soon! ✈️

After Rome we flew to Paris to search for more pieces for our Berkeley remodel. First stop?  Les Puces, aka the Paris Flea Market, where we found a pair of French 1950’s Maison Bagues coffee tables, a Modena Italy daybed, an Italian vanity, a Danish dresser, 
a pair of French bamboo/rattan chairs for our Juliet balcony, and some original 1930’s cocktail barware. When researching the price comparisons on sites like 1st dibs we realized that this market’s prices are a great deal! We also found some amazing dining chairs at Merci along with some great repurposed cushions and cool menswear. While in Paris, we made a stop at the gardens of the Louvre to see our new artist friend from Portugal’s gorgeous installation. Also stopped in to see our new range from Lacanche. And as always, had some amazing food! Back to Lisboa!

Ciao Rome! Thank you .luxurysuites for the amazing stay with chic, artistic design, perfect service and Gabrielle, an ultra cool, friendly hotelier who gave us great recommendations over a fun conversation. In the end, it was all about the linens—bedding ✔️ with gorgeous linens , also found some vintage Italian linens from Tossacio Market, an incredible and unique Italian vintage cheese dish 1940c and some Roman shades😎 from .Great times Roma but onward we go!

While traveling 🧳 in search of worldly details for my projects, I always take time out to learn recipes indigenous to the places I visit. This recipe is especially dear to me as it was taught from an alentejano who is very close to my twin sister. This dish, sopa de tomate do Alentejo, is simply delicious. The bowls are a modern spin on an antique Portugal design, made in Costa Nova, Portugal. With these bowls in tow, I will return to California to share this special dish.
