1Girl_1Passport I'm a hopeless dreamer with a travel bug. I'm sharing my dreams and my passion for travel with the world. I’m not quite sure where my passion steams from.

There’s not a second that goes by I’m not dreaming of a new adventure. But I know my first trip after high school to Mexico for 3 months with a girl friend was the start. Coming home after living out of my suitcase and being in a different place every few days I couldn’t imagine any other life. Got bitten by the travel bug on that trip and been scratching it ever since. It’s been a struggle someti

mes since half of me is a nomad and the other half is the picket white fence family girl. Though I wish I had more time in my earlier twenties to backpack around the world solo. I also don’t regret getting married so young and starting our life together. It’s been hard to find the perfect balance, especially after the purchase of our house. Having a mortgage and also a dog now makes it a lot harder to just plan vacations and just get up and go. It might be a lot harder but still worth it. I wanted to write a blog for the average joe. You can have the best of both worlds if you work hard. Who said I can’t be married, a house owner and a avid traveler. My motto of life is “Don’t let dreams, be dreams.” Follow me around the world with stories from our trips and also all my tips and tricks on how to travel on a budget.

It’s better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times.

•Fun Fact•
The Pena Palace, one of the seven wonders of Portugal, is simply mesmerizing. With its rich history, from a chapel to a monastery to a Disney-like castle, the Pena Palace became the National Monument of Portugal in 1910.

The Pena Palace was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. In 2013, the National Palace of Pena became a member of the European Royal Residence Network. In 2020, the Pena Park and the Pena Palace were integrated into the European Route of Historic Gardens, becoming one of the 40 Certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.

Unexpected places turned into lasting memories.

•Fun Fact•
In 1093 when King Ladislaus I of Hungary (1040-1095) moved the bishop’s chair from Sisak to Zagreb, he proclaimed the existing church as a cathedral.

Construction on the cathedral started shortly after his death and was finished in 1217 and consecrated by king Andrew II of Hungary.

The building was destroyed by the Mongols in 1242 but rebuilt by bishop Timothy (1263–1287) a few years later. At the end of the 15th century, the Ottoman Empire invaded Croatia, triggering the construction of fortification walls around the cathedral, some of which are still intact.

Blessed are the curious for they shall have adventures.

•Fun Fact•
Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands, the 88th largest island in the world and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily, Sardinia, Cyprus, and Corsica.

A melting pot of cultures from Europe, Asia, and Africa, Crete is where the first European civilization—the Minoan—thrived.
Minoan remains and sites are found at Knossos (Knosós or Cnossus), Phaestus (Phaestos), and numerous other locations throughout the island.

Always say yes to new adventures.

•Fun Fact•
Very little of the original White House remains. The British burned the original White House in 1814 after U.S. forces set fire to Canada’s parliament.
The famous Gilbert Stuart painting of George Washington was saved by a fleeing Dolley Madison (with some help), and some exterior stone walls survived the fire.

Every wave of life reach us for a reason.

•Fun Fact•
Out of the dozens of grottoes that populate Portugal's southern coastline, there's one that stands out, the Benagil Caves.

The Algarve Basin between Cabo de São Vicente and Faro was part of a region caught in the epicentre when the supercontinent of Pangea began to split up, and warm, shallow seas slowly crept in. Over time, the limestone built up, with the layers that make up the Benagil Sea Cave forming about 20 million years ago.

Golden state of mind when layovers become unexpected trips.

•Fun Fact•
Once dubbed the 'bridge that couldn't be built', there are few sights today more impressive, and more emblematic of the United States, than San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.

A feat of engineering that ranks as one of the 'Seven Wonders of the Modern World', as voted for by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

A marvel of modern engineering, the Golden Gate Bridge is 1.7 miles long and 90 feet wide.

Its 4,200-foot main span between the two towers was the longest for a suspension bridge until 1981, while its 746-foot towers made it the tallest bridge of any type until 1993.

The gift of eloquence and persuasiveness with a single kiss.

•Fun Fact•
Blarney Castle was built in 1446 by Dermot MacCarthy. He was King of South Munster. The castle is the third building on the site.
The first was built of wood. In about 1210 a stone building was built in place of the wooden one. Finally, in 1446 the current castle was built by MacCarthy.

The Blarney Stone is a slab of limestone. The size of the stone is about 4 feet long and 1 foot wide. It is built into the castle's battlements 83 feet up from the ground.

There are lots of myths about where the stone came from. Some say it came from the prophet Jeremiah. Some say it came from Stonehenge. It is supposed to have been given to Dermot MacCarthy by Robert the Bruce. The gift was for help fighting against the English at the 1314 battle of Bannockburn.

Kissing Ireland's Blarney Stone, a tradition that's been around for several centuries, is said to give a person the gift of eloquence and persuasiveness.

Don’t let the tamed ones tell you how to live your life.

•Fun Fact•
The Grand Palace in Brussels was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998.

One of the most interesting facts about the Grand Place in Brussels is that it never stopped serving as a marketplace throughout its history until the 20th century. It’s still called the “Grote Markt” in Dutch which literally means the “Big Marketplace.”

The last time a market was set up on the square was on November 19, 1959. By the 1990s, the entire area on and around the square had been turned into a pedestrian area, which is why you won’t see any cars passing by here!

Blessed are the curious, for they shall have adventures.

•Fun Fact•
Canary Wharf itself takes its name from the sea trade with the Canary Islands, whose name originates from the Latin ‘canis’ (dogs).

Canary Wharf is located on the strangely named Isle of Dogs. The Isle of Dogs was first mentioned in Henry III’s papers and it is thought that Edward III kept greyhounds here.

We are all pilgrims who seek 𝙸𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚢.

•Fun Fact•
Boccadasse (Boca d'azë or Bocadâze in the Genoese dialect) is an ancient fishing village of the city of Genoa, which is part of the district of Albaro.

The name derives from the shape of the small bay: Boccadasse would mean the mouth of the ass (Bocca d'azë).

According to legend the village was founded around the year 1000 by some Spanish fishermen that, caught by a storm, found refuge in this bay.
By the name of their captain (De Odero or Donderos), would be derived the surname Dodero, still prevalent today in the area.

Meet me where the sky touches the sea.

•Fun Fact•
Fans of ‘Game Of Thrones’ can instantly recognize Dunluce Castle as the seat of the ‘House of Greyjoy’ the great castle of Pyke.

It was used as the external part of the Iron Island stronghold. You might be able to see the castle in the second and sixth seasons of the show.

Exterior shots of Dunluce Castle were used in Game of Thrones for Pyke Castle of House Greyjoy on Pyke Island.

But that’s not the only exciting thing about this 16th-century structure. It has many other claims to fame and tales from within its walls.

Featuring on the HBO TV series wasn’t the first time that Dunluce Castle was shown to the world. In the early 70s, it also featured on the inner sleeve of the Led Zeppelin album Houses of the Holy.

The popularity of the show has brought hundreds of visitors to the castle in Ireland.

•Fun Fact•
