By now, you've surely heard and seen most of the chatter about Six Flags Great Adventure closing the record-breaking and current record-holding Kingda roller coaster for good after it shuts down for the 2024 season this weekend.

We have some thoughts, and we'd love to read yours! How do you feel about this potential news? What's your prediction for Ka's future?

Given the lack of a closure announcement, given the significance of this ride, and given that both parks are essentially operated by the former Cedar Fair, we have to think that they're doing what Cedar Point did to Top Thrill Dragster.

You just don't close the tallest, fastest, and one of the most famous roller coasters in the world without saying anything publicly! It makes no sense! Particularly when you consider the recent public relations struggles Great Adventure has had, would they really do something this unpopular without informing their guests?

One of the common criticisms of this theory is the issues Cedar Point had with Top Thrill 2's inability to open this season. We don't think Cedar Fair is scared off by Zamperla, and they likely share some R&D responsibility for the present issue. They are in this correction together. And lessons learned from Top Thrill 2 would be implemented on Ka.

Kinga Ka's structure is simply too valuable to lose, not just because of Zumanjaro, but because of its status of being the tallest coaster on this side of the world. Reusing it seems like the far more logical option.

If the Green Lantern stand-up coaster is also closing, we wouldn't be surprised to see, and would love to see, an extended layout for Ka. That's our glass half full prediction.

As far as Green Lantern, scrapping it seems odd as well. We think it will be relocated to another Six Flags park and reopen with floorless trains, like has been done with several other Bolliger & Mabillard stand-up coasters.

To the Great Adventure Connoisseurs out there, we're sorry that you're losing that punchy, amazing launch on Ka. But, come 2026, we think and hope we'll all be happy with "KK2".

So, what are your thoughts? Please share! Or join the discussion in our Great Adventure Connoisseurs group!

At Knoebels Amusement Resort, about 2/3 up the Skryride on the right, there is a baseball strangely stuck in to a small branch near the top of a tree.

We found this to be interesting...

The shadow of Phoenix's second turn is lined up with the roof of the brake run. Kinda like watching a ghost train running the rails at Knoebels Amusement Resort Hallo-Fun Weekends.

We're here today and tomorrow for our last days of Knoebels fun!

We love this walk between Thunderhawk and Steel Force any time of the year at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. But we especially appreciate it during Haunt!

While heading to Steel Force for our final rides of the night, we caught this path unoccupied - we had to snap a quick photo! The lighting here, both on the trees and on Thunderhawk, really make the area pop.

You have just three more weekends to experience Haunt at Dorney! Then Steel Force, Iron Menace, and the rest of the park hibernate for the winter!

When you ride Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom 's Enterprise ride on a damp Haunt evening, you may find the roof next door provides a perfect reflection of your surroundings!

We love Dorney's Haunt event! And they really outdid themselves with the Steel Yard decor!

Their 'Ghost in the Machine' haunted walk-through was among the best we've experienced!

Plus, foggy night rides on Iron Menace and Steel Force are so memorable!

Be sure to check all it out this year!

Who we are...

Who are we? We’re you! Park Connoisseurs is a network of fans who share something in common - we love amusement parks. While we may have various levels of enthusiasm and travel experience, we all recognize that there’s just something special about an industry dedicated to fun. Whether it’s a fascination with the engineering, the nostalgia on an antique carousel, indulging in some midway munchies, the thrills from riding a monster roller coaster, taking in birds-eye views from a Ferris wheel, or just making memories with those closest to you, amusement and theme parks are a treat for all of the senses. And we’re interested in these shared experiences from everyone!

‘Connoisseur’ is defined as “ one who understands the details, technique, or principles of an art and is competent to act as a critical judge”. While there may be different levels of experience among our followers and group members, we believe that every opinion matters. And we believe that everyone’s feedback is valuable! So, give us a like to follow along with our own park adventures each season and as we share interesting bits of news from across the industry. And feel free to join any of our network of Facebook groups to join the discussion and to share your experiences! The parks are following along with us!
