*𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘴𝘬

I thought I’d take the time to do an overview and remove some of the mystery surrounding travel agents!

𝟏. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 “𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭”
Wait, what? Isn’t that what I am? Nope! Per Disney Legal, we can call ourselves “Travel Agents specializing in Disney.” Anyone who labels/markets themselves as a “Disney Travel Agent” either didn’t receive proper training, or is blatantly breaking the rules - neither of which is someone I personally would want to work with.

𝟐. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐲?
First and foremost, experience and love of Disney! How often have they traveled there? Is this a hobby or do they eat, sleep, and breathe Disney (like yours truly)? Disney is one of the lowest-paying travel suppliers - with arguably the most work - so someone has to really love it to stay dedicated to it and their clients.

𝟑. 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥?
Definitely not. More and more agencies are popping up all the time, some with MLM structures, and hiring anyone and everyone who will pay a fee, then providing little to no training. Ideally, an agency should be part of Disney’s Earmarked program, and while that isn’t a guarantee of a great agency, it weeds out a lot.

𝟒. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐝?
I do not get a salary; I only get paid when people book their trips with me, and after their travel is completed. Disney includes travel agent commission in their prices, so if you book a trip directly with Disney, that money goes back to Disney; if you use a TA, that money goes to them or to their agency and then they get a percentage (as in my case).

𝟓. 𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐬?
Definitely not! It seems a common misconception is TAs get to go to Disney for free, or automatically get discounted trips. There are TA rates but you have to meet several qualifications before getting to apply for them (and then that depends on if they’re available), which can take years. Either way, we pay for all the trips we take to keep our experience/knowledge current to better serve you!

𝟔. 𝐃𝐨 𝐈 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐩 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐟 𝐈 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭?
No; you are in complete control of the details of your trip! I make payments for you, and any changes/updates to your reservation (like dates, tickets, traveling party, etc). Otherwise,
I’m here to advise as much or as little as you like! That’s why I have seasoned Disney-goers as clients as well as first-timers.

𝟕. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, 𝐦𝐞 😊)?
