Just three blocks from the shores of Lake Michigan, the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee offers guests a taste of elegance with its priceless Victorian art collection, impeccable service, and luxurious accommodations. But for all its charm, this historic hotel is also famous for something a little less refined: its ghostly residents.

Built in 1893 as the "Grand Hotel of the West," the Pfister has seen countless dignitaries, celebrities, and athletes walk through its halls—and perhaps a few spirits who never quite left. Among the most commonly sighted is the apparition of Charles Pfister himself, the hotel’s founder, who has been spotted strolling the halls as if checking in on his legacy. But he’s not the only one keeping things lively after hours.

Major League Baseball players in town for games have shared spine-chilling tales of their stays at the Pfister. Former Texas Rangers infielder Michael Young recalled waking to the sound of stomping footsteps inside his locked room. Ever the diplomat, he called out, “Make yourself at home, but don’t wake me up!” After that, the ghost seemingly took his advice, letting him sleep in peace.

Adrian Beltre, formerly of the Dodgers, had a less restful experience. He reported knocking on his door, appliances turning on and off by themselves, and pounding from behind the headboard—so intense he brought a bat to bed. Meanwhile, Carlos Gomez of the Twins had his iPod spring to life on its own, vibrating wildly as if trying to join in the fun.

Guests beyond the ballplayers have also reported eerie phenomena, from unexplained electrical malfunctions to the unmistakable presence of someone—or something—watching from the shadows. Whether it’s mischievous spirits or Charles Pfister himself, the energy in this grand old hotel is as unforgettable as its Victorian charm.

Are you brave enough to spend a night in one of America’s most haunted hotels? If you’re ready to dive into the paranormal, join Haunted Rooms America for ghost hunts at some of the country’s most haunted and historic locations!

The Orpheum Theatre in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, isn’t just a historic gem—it’s also home to one of the state’s most notorious ghosts, affectionately known as “Larry.” Built in 1913, the theater has long been a gathering place for performers and audiences alike, but it wasn’t until the Sioux Falls Community Playhouse took ownership in 1954 that Larry began making his presence known.

The story goes that shortly after the new owners moved in, they discovered an ornate, antique casket in the boiler room. Creepy, right? But when they returned to clean the area, the casket had vanished. From then on, strange occurrences became the norm—objects appeared and disappeared at random, as if Larry was enjoying some ghostly redecorating.

In 1959, Larry took center stage—literally. Actor Ray Loftesness reported seeing a man bathed in a blue-green light on the balcony, pointing at him. Moments later, Ray felt a sudden icy blast before being knocked unconscious by a falling sandbag—not once, but twice. Coincidence? Larry would probably say no.

The mysterious specter has also been known to photobomb as a shadowy figure in pictures, just to keep things interesting. But who is Larry? Nobody knows for sure. Some say he’s an actor who vanished during a dress rehearsal after his castmates heard a gunshot in the light booth, only to find a pool of blood and no body. Whether that story is true or just local lore, Larry’s mischievous spirit seems to enjoy keeping everyone guessing.

What’s certain is that the Orpheum Theatre has earned its reputation as one of South Dakota’s most haunted locations. Are you brave enough to sit in the audience and wait for Larry to make his next appearance? And if you’re ready for even more ghostly encounters, join Haunted Rooms America for ghost hunts in some of the country’s most haunted and historic spots. Larry might not follow, but the chills sure will!

The Liberty Memorial Building in Bismarck, North Dakota, is a historic treasure with a ghostly past. Built in the 1920s to house state offices, including the Supreme Court, State Library, and Historical Society, the building was once filled with the bustle of researchers and archivists.

But for those working late, it wasn’t just history that lingered—there was something else. A presence, nicknamed “The Stack Monster” by the Historical Society, became the scapegoat for the building’s paranormal activity.

The Stack Monster made its presence known in unsettling ways. Disembodied voices called out names, phantom footsteps echoed through empty hallways, and employees were often gripped by an overwhelming feeling of unease, as if being silently urged to leave.

Archivists working late reported hearing coughs in the stillness of the night, only to find the building completely empty. Even pets weren’t immune—one terrified dog fled the basement after chasing something unseen, tail tucked firmly between its legs.

The apparition of a man in a white shirt was also reported, spotted heading into storage areas where no one should have been. Employees who followed would find the room empty, despite seeing the figure moments before. The Stack Monster’s antics were so frequent that some workers began to consider it a reluctant co-worker rather than a menace.

In 1981, when the Historical Society moved to the new Heritage Center, staff joked that the Stack Monster had a security badge waiting if it decided to follow. In fact, one employee reported seeing the massive south doors of the Liberty Memorial Building slowly open and close on their own just before the big move—almost as if the spirit had decided to bid farewell.

Today, the building’s paranormal activity seems to have quieted, but its eerie reputation remains a part of its story. Would you have braved the late-night halls alongside the Stack Monster? If you’re ready to explore other haunted and historic locations, join Haunted Rooms America for ghost hunts that let you uncover the mysteries of the past!

Franklin Castle, also known as the Tiedemann House, is more than just a striking Victorian mansion—it’s a chilling chapter in Ohio’s haunted history. Located on Franklin Boulevard in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood, this four-story, 20-room masterpiece, built in 1881-1883, is said to be the most haunted house in Ohio. Its grand turrets, gargoyles, and castle-like façade make it a standout, but it’s what lingers inside that draws thrill-seekers and ghost hunters from across the country.

The house’s haunted reputation stems from its tragic early history. Hannes Tiedemann, a German immigrant and prosperous businessman, built the home during a period of deep personal loss. His 15-year-old daughter, Emma, passed away from diabetes, followed shortly by his elderly mother, Wiebeka. Over the next three years, three more of his children died under mysterious circumstances, leaving whispers of foul play in their wake. To distract his grieving wife, Louise, Hannes added extravagant features to the home, including a grand ballroom and intricate gargoyles. But even these couldn’t prevent Louise’s death in 1895.

Following the Tiedemanns, the house changed hands many times, serving as a cultural hub, private residence, and even the subject of ghost tours. In 1975, human bones were discovered in a closet, though some believe they were planted to bolster the home’s spooky reputation. Fires in 1999 and 2011 added to the home’s tumultuous legacy, yet Franklin Castle still stands, attracting those who are drawn to its eerie allure.

Inside, visitors have reported cold spots, disembodied voices, and sightings of shadowy figures in its halls. Doors open and close on their own, and the atmosphere feels heavy with the weight of its history. Whether it’s the restless spirits of the Tiedemann family or echoes of its past tragedies, Franklin Castle keeps its secrets well-guarded.

Would you dare spend a night in this Gothic masterpiece, listening for whispers in the dark? While Franklin Castle might be a bucket-list haunt, you can join Haunted Rooms America on ghost hunts in some of the country’s most haunted and historic locations. Are you ready to face the unknown?

15/12/2024

Nestled in the quaint town of Valentine, Nebraska, Centennial Hall Museum stands as the oldest high school building in the state, dating back to 1897. While it now houses historical artifacts in its twelve themed rooms, its halls are said to echo with more than just the past—there’s a lingering presence that has given this former school its haunted reputation.

The tragic story behind Centennial Hall’s ghost dates back to 1944. According to local legend, a young girl, a talented clarinetist, met an untimely and sinister end when a friend poisoned her clarinet reed. When she went to play, the poison took her life. Teachers at the time reported seeing her apparition wandering the halls, and many experienced an overwhelming sense of unease. Even today, visitors speak of a sudden heaviness that creeps in as they explore the museum.

And then there’s the music room. Long after the instruments were removed, faint melodies have been heard drifting through the air, as if the ghostly clarinetist still practices her craft. The rocking chairs are no less active, swaying gently on their own, as though invisible hands push them into motion.

Centennial Hall offers more than just an architectural glimpse into Nebraska’s history—it provides a brush with the supernatural. Whether it’s the distant strains of phantom music or the chilling sense of being watched, the museum is as much a ghost story as it is a historical treasure.

So, the question is: are you brave enough to wander the halls of Centennial Hall and perhaps hear the clarinetist’s final encore? If you’ve got a taste for the paranormal, don’t forget to join Haunted Rooms America for ghost hunts at some of the country’s most haunted and historic locations!
