”China and the UK share numerous common interests,“ stated Geraldine McCafferty, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Beijing, during her visit to HKUST(GZ) on August 29.

Prof. Lionel M. Ni, President of HKUST(GZ), presented McCafferty with a unique gift: a profile sketch created by our robotic drawing kiosk. The British delegation, which included Sarah Mann, the British Consul-General in Guangzhou, expressed interest in HKUST(GZ)’s Low Altitude Systems and Economy Research Institute (LASERi).

The discussions focused on exploring potential collaboration in areas such as AI, data science, governance, and climate change.

"China and the UK share numerous common interests," stated Geraldine McCafferty, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Beijing, during her visit to HKUST(GZ) on August 29.

The volunteer teaching program organized by HKUST(GZ) in Guizhou, China, concluded on July 21. Students at Tongren No. 1 Junior High School showcased their program outcomes across six themes, ranging from English dramas to 3D printing.

During this initiative, over 30 of our students and faculty conducted classes on "STEM Education and the Practical Applications of AI in Education" for more than 90 local students.

Let's celebrate the arrival of our first group of 20 outstanding students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan! Among them, ten were admitted through the Joint Entrance Examination to Chinese Universities for Overseas Chinese Students and Students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. The highest score achieved was 668, placing the student at the 29th position nationwide.

Additionally, we are proud to announce that this year, we have taken the lead among the four joint universities established by Hong Kong and mainland China in accepting recommended students from Macao.
