Historic Moment! Guatemala has just won its first-ever gold medal, thanks to the incredible performance of our champion, Adriana Ruano! 🇬🇹🏅 We are beyond proud to see a Guatemalan woman make history and achieve this monumental victory.

🇬🇹 Adriana Ruano ha hecho historia al ganar la medalla de oro en foso femenino y el récord olímpico en los Juegos Olímpicos de París. 🥇 Este increíble logro se convierte en la tercera medalla olímpica en la historia de nuestro país. ¡Felicidades, Adriana!

Ties is blessed with so many gifted and talented staff. Meet Marisa! Marisa is a Korean adoptee with experience traveling with China, Kazakhstan and Korean Ties. This year she added Guatemala to her experience by leading our pilot Service & Language program.

What did the adoptees think of Marisa? "LOVED MARISSA SO MUCH!!!!! She was so patient and understanding with us." one adoptee said. Thank you, Marisa!

Marisa loves that Ties centers the adoptee experience and provides a supportive environment for individuals and families to return to their country of birth and have experiences beyond sightseeing. If she’s not working on a random Wednesday afternoon you’ll find her reading a book with her cat in lap and a large mug of tea, playing video games with friends, or trying a new restaurant.

🇬🇹 Recap of Milena's Day in Guatemala 🇬🇹

In case you missed it: Milena had an amazing takeover during the first official day in Guatemala!

The day began with a welcome meeting where everyone got to know each other. Adoptees participated in a short Connect & Chat, while adult loved ones joined Talk Time. These sessions continue throughout the trip.

The group then explored the charming and colorful city of Antigua, known for its cobblestone streets, quaint shops, and stunning architecture.

The group stopped for a traditional lunch, and a special treat followed as they visited Niños con Bendición where they learned how to make authentic tortillas and danced with the children (who are just the cutest!)

BIG day for us!

Guatemalan Ties families arrived today!

Our pilot program, the Service and Language (exclusively for Guatemalan adoptees 18 - 25), had their first trip to the grocery store and traditional Guatemalan cooking class (Pepian).
