Last week I was fortunate enough and honored to conduct a rehearsal with the University of Texas, Tyler Symphonic Wind Ensemble as they were preparing for their Spring Concert in a couple of weeks. It was a pleasure working with the great students there at UTTYLER. We rehearsed the “Ringmaster Circus March” by John Mackey, “Abracadabra” by Frank Ticheli and “Elder Scroll Themes” by Degousse. I want to thank Dr. Austin Seybert, Director of Bands at UTTYLER for the invitation and also Dr. Sarah Roberts, Chair of the Music Department, for stopping by the rehearsal.

As many of you know, I have been and will continue until the end of this academic year as the band director of the Grace Community School in Tyler, TX. It has been a true pleasure being back in a school band program. The School Board has officially opened the position for applications for next year. The position is for either band or orchestra. The school is very supportive of the arts and music and has been very gracious to me as I have taken the students to festival, will take another group to another festival later in the semester and prepare the beginning band, 7/8 grade band and the senior band for their spring concert. The administration has been unfaltering in their support for the band program. It is a great place to teach.
