Are hiking boots waterproof?
Short answer, no. Not all hiking boots are waterproof or goretex, and they don’t need to be. It’s largely down to the environment you’re going into and what you prefer.
💧For wet environments it’s definitely advised to use waterproof boots are they’ll keep your feet dry and stop them breaking down.
🔥For hot environments you may want to not wear waterproof boots as you may feel as though your feet are overheating and they’re getting no breathability.
If you can only pick one boot, i’d advise getting a waterproof in particular goretex option as this will allow you to go to a wider variety of environments.
