REPOST • New Peru pics (+ story)! Hiking amongst all the llamas, all the alpacas, all the glaciers, all the best travel buddies, and none of the oxygen at 17,000 ft (5100m) is an experience I’ll never forget. 🦙 🇵🇪 🏔 The community empowerment project funds education and post-secondary scholarships for the children of the communities, conservation efforts for the area, and empowers local women through new job opportunities while enabling them to break from cultural norms. Years after the communities banded together to save Rainbow Mountain from a mining company by introducing tourism, they realized they needed income for their communities directly to fund further conservation and education for the kids – and thus over time, the lodges were built, and The Andean Lodges experience was formed.

REPOST • After having a several lung edema episode back in 2014 I've never thought about being back on the mountains stronger than ever and finishing this amazing project of trekking over 5200 mts on 5 amazing days, I'm happy with the joy of life and grateful for letting me be part of the mountains back again holding my camera!
