A self-drive in Botswana is full of adventure, adrenaline, stepping out of your comfort zone, moments of silence. You will have time for reflection, appreciation of the beauty of nature, you feel humble. It will certainly be a trip you will never forget.
We can certainly share that we are always happy to hear when clients made it through without getting stuck, as there are plenty of moments we cannot be by your side to assist as destinations are so remote. Thank you for sharing these moments.

🌍 Exploring Africa with Teens: A Journey of Learning and Growth 🌟

Taking teenage kids to new places and cultures is more than just a vacation - it’s a priceless opportunity to bond, learn, and grow together. From wandering through bustling markets to getting uo close to wild animals, every adventure opens our eyes to the richness and diversity of the world around us.

Traveling with teens not only allows us to create unforgettable memories but also fosters a deep sense of curiosity and empathy within us. Experiencing different traditions, cuisines, and ways of life broadens our perspectives and challenges us to think beyond our comfort zones. We learn to appreciate the beauty in diversity and embrace the unknown with open hearts and minds.

Navigating through new languages, navigating unfamiliar streets, and immersing ourselves in foreign customs teach us valuable life skills such as adaptability and patience. And perhaps a little less hours connected to wifi 😉

We received these beautiful images from when travelers experienced a Masai homestay.

Visiting a local school often has mixed feelings and we often question if we should support it. However, by visiting you contribute to the wellbeing of the community with small donations, and you will remember these visits for the rest of your life. Be respectful and behave like a guest.

By traveling and interacting with new cultures there can be a deeper understanding, empathy and connectness and that could have a ripple effect on our planet. As long as it’s not done with busloads of tourists but in moderation. What do you think?

Today we are celebrating African Travels 12th year anniversary! 🎉

We go way back longer, when in 2004 Marijnke (Dutch) went on an organic farming work experience in Zambia and met William (Zimbabwean). From working as an overland tour guide to running a safari lodge, graduating on sustainable tourism development in Africa and many many trips through Africa, it is now years later, and all that knowledge comes together in African Travels.

Our passion is to help you find your dream holiday and then to hear from you how you are touched by the magical feeling when traveling in Africa.
Above all we value our local partners that do good on the ground and develop small scale tourism in the most sustainable way. This co-creation we love. We are proud that we managed to create our dream job!
