Big announcement notice!
It is official, the historic and groundbreaking initiative Destination Original Indigenous Tourism (DO-IT) is now a reality! After a successful soft launch at the International Indigenous Tourism Conference 2024 in Ottawa Canada, we are pleased to share that our three main partners the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA), the Indigenous Tourism Canada and NZ Māori Tourism entered a commitment pledge yesterday in Marksville, Louisiana at AIANTA's American Indigenous Tourism Conference! In the coming months, we will work closely together to develop an inclusive membership structure for our Indigenous destinations worldwide and for our partners to join us on this unique journey of enhancing global recognition of Indigenous tourism, as we work to develop a united identity that consumers can rely on when seeking authentic and original Indigenous experiences!
We are honored to share with you all this amazing initiative and announce our initial board of directors and leaders in their respective countries, who will lead the DO-IT. We are proud to announce that Sebastien Desnoyers Picard of the Huron-Wendat Nation in Canada will be transitioning from his current role as Vice President of ITAC to become the first President and CEO of Destination Original Indigenous Tourism.
