Hello All!

After a two year hiatus, I am once again hosting an African Photosafari to Tanzania for the Fall of 2019!

We will visit two incredible parks:
Serengeti National Park, at the extremely beautiful Lamai Serengeti Lodge (my last trip had my best leopard sightings ever right outside the lodge!)
Selous National Park, in a riverine camp with outstanding opportunities for boat safaris as well as 4WD safaris. I have a dear friend who is a game ranger in this park and will hopefully be able to provide us some special behind-the scenes experiences!

My trips always feature vehicles reserved especially for my group, with plenty of room for photographers, gear, and critical lines of sight for viewing and image capture. NO cattle cars. And no "hurry up". We can instruct our guides as to our interests; following one lion all day, or creating tornadoes with your touring.

Our agent is Brian Kemp of Kemp & Callahan Photosafaris. I have worked with Brian for ten trips; he is top-notch and reliable. Our on the ground outfitter is Nomad Tanzania. This will be my third trip with them. Their people are excellent; several of their guides I count among my lifelong friends. Brian will certainly politic for their best of the best.

The tuition is $9990 pp double occupancy, plus International airfare which should come in at about $2000 pp. All other arrangements in Africa will be made by Brian and include nearly everything.

Dates: We would be leaving 31 October, needing to be at Kilamanjaro (JRO) for transfer on 1 November. This flight usually goes through Amsterdam. The trip home will begin 12 November, departing most likely from Dar Es Salaam arriving stateside 13 November. I will advise on flights once we get a bit closer. Do not book without conferring with me!

Anti-malarial pills (Malarone) are recommended as a safety measure. No other shots are required, but you should be up to date with your standard immunizations per consultation with your MD.

I will provide advice on packing, clothing, gear, electricity, etc.

Hit me with questions, and let's go to TANZANIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lilac Breasted Roller on a mobile perch. This species usually lights in open brush 1-3 meters off the ground and flies sorties for passing insects. In the Serengeti I witnessed a few highly adapted birds who moved their perch to the backs of hoofstock. Therefore they can hunt open areas with no brush, and the grazers stir up bugs for them. How smart! Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. Copyright grohfoto 2016. All rights reserved in all media.

Nyala are lovely, shaggy, medium-sized antelopes. Nyala are spotted throughout Southern Africa, but certainly are not everywhere. There are regional pronunciations of their name, ranging from "nigh-ala" to "knee-ala" to "en-yala" to "in-yala" to "ing-yala". Their markings are colorful, and, although very "gitchy" in the bush, they can be so gentle that they become "pets" around safari lodges. They have eaten from my hand. Bushbuck are the other antelope that seem so attracted to human habitation. This was a siesta shot in camp; the pool is just out of sight in the foreground. Kruger area, South Africa. The famed Wildebeest crossing of the Mara River in Northern Serengeti. Groups of tens of thousands of wildebeest and zebra will amass on the river bank. On some unknown signal, a few brave, or foolish, individuals will start a stampede across the river, causing one of the most chaotic scenes in nature. Once crossed, they bound up narrow chutes on the opposite bank, depicted here, and disperse. My 2015 photosafari group was blessed to witness no fewer than seven of these crossings in two days!!! **For the people who did not get the serious aspects in this humorous internet meme, here's the deal. There is nothing wrong with wanting to go to Africa. There is something wrong if you: know nothing about Africa, do not believe that it's 50+ countries have vast differences including food/language/climate/customs/etc, or simply if you think of Africa as one homogeneous place.

Some situations this meme is directly or indirectly addressing:
• I don't want to go to Africa, I might get ebola.
• I want to go to Africa and bring food with me to give to all the hungry people
• I want to go to London, Paris, Rio & Africa
• Africa has no running water
• Etc.

Africa has more countries than any other continent comprising roughly 1/4th of the world's countries. We should learn more about Africa, her countries and we should also dig deeper and ask the "pink elephant" question... why are people so ignorant about Africa?

PS - we'll be posting more about my past & future travels, like this page and follow us on iG: https://instagram.com/TRVLBLK/

On our 2014 photosafari to Okavango and Moremi, we predictably had no rhino sightings, although the trip itself was remarkably rich and one of the top ones for my photo groups.
This year in Northern Serengeti we were privileged to have two sightings of a female black rhino and her calf! What a lovely scene, to enjoy these gentle giants in their natural environs!
Please join me in taking personal responsibility to raise awareness of the extreme persecution of white and black rhinos by poachers in Southern and Eastern Africa. Share with your social media friends, share with your government leaders, boycott anything Mozambiquean, as their government defends the poachers.

Years of poaching have pushed Africa's Black rhinos to the edge of extinction. A determined conservationist aims to reverse that — one 3,000-pound airmail delivery at a time.
