: Calling all innovators! The J.M.K. Innovation Prize is looking for bold problem-solvers with game-changing ideas in heritage conservation, the environment, and social justice. The application process is open to individuals or teams representing nonprofit or mission-driven for-profit organizations within the United States.

Ten prizes will be awarded, each including $150,000 over three years, $25,000 in technical assistance funds, and access to a network of resources and support.

alert 🚨: King Baudouin Foundation has opened applications for the KBF Africa Prize 2025-2026 for African organizations contributing to the sustainable improvement of lives in Africa. The laureate will receive an estimated $260,000 (€250,000) and opportunities to increase their visibility internationally. In light of the most recent laureates, organizations working in peace-building and women’s economic empowerment, and organizations based in Tanzania and Somalia will not be considered. Eligible organizations must be established in Africa, and led and managed by Africans. Applications will be accepted until March 3, 2025.

RIT Day Recap: Connecting, Reflecting, and Growing!

Smarter Good’s Research and Insights Team (RIT) kicked off the year with an energizing RIT Day—an opportunity to reflect on the past year, celebrate milestones, and set the tone for 2025.

The session provided a space for the team to recognize key insights from 2024 and discuss how these learnings will shape their approach moving forward. A key takeaway was the need for nonprofits to build a robust network of relationships in the philanthropic sector and adopt a proactive approach to cultivation. Consistent networking with funders and other stakeholders, even outside of specific funding requests, can lead to new opportunities, strengthen an organization's overall fundraising strategy, and increase awareness of the organization's work.

The conversation also centered around enhancing client success, deepening expertise, and fostering collaboration across teams. As part of this alignment, the team explored ideas across key areas, including innovation, integration, leadership, and empowerment.

Fueled by a day of reconnection and goal-setting, the Research and Insights Team is taking on 2025 with a renewed commitment to delivering impact.

What happens when 1,200 people from around the globe connect online to discuss opportunities, roadblocks, and priorities for businesses to amplify their social and environmental impact this year? We found out, and we found out fast! In just an hour, Business Fights Poverty expertly facilitated challenges, conversations, and written commentary as we answered tough questions and celebrated solutions in the Together for 2025 Community Forum.

The mood at the Forum was dynamic and cautious. We were all very aware and concerned about the then recent announcements about federal funding. Underneath it, though, was a shared heightened sense of urgency to mobilize and move forward, and an unspoken agreement to face the setbacks head-on. Conversations emphasized the need for businesses to invest further in relevant and appropriate programs that deliver and real to become a true force for good. Social impact leaders and their supporters must champion a culture of collaboration and trust centered around the communities they serve.

I joined the Forum as a named contributor with my neatly written notes, unsure of what to expect. I found a community determined and committed, very much like Smarter Good. 2025’s shaping up to be a challenging year but Smarter Gooders are ready to help our client partners navigate 2025 and beyond.

Over 2,700 youth in the USA, Ghana, and South Africa have transformed their lives through sports-inspired mentorship and skills development with Hope Of A Billion’s (HOAB) Power of Resilience program - a testament to inspiration as a driver of positive impact.

In fact, the (GhPN) Ghanaian Professionals Network recently honored HOAB’s co-founder and Ghana's first skeleton Olympian, Akwasi Frimpong OLY, with their WAWA ABA Adinkra Award which celebrates resilience and determination.
