Dragon's Eye Tours Mystical journeys of pilgrimage and magic to sacred sites in Scotland, the West Country of England,

Dragon’s Eye Tours, in collaboration with Jetset Travel Ballina, will be conducting its eighth season of sacred sites tours of pilgrimage and magic, the first to the West Country of England and Cornwall, and the second to Scotland in August/September 2017. Both tours are especially designed for those who have a love of history, a fascination for the mystical, and a desire to visit some of the most

beautiful and sacred places in these most ancient lands. Combining well-researched historical and archaeological information with the assistance of expert guides, we shall explore myth and legend, visit holy wells, stone circles, pagan temples, ancient castles and settlements, pretty villages and passage tombs. In the West Country, we shall walk Britain's oldest road and in Ireland drive the stunningly beautiful North Antrim Coast. On the twelve day West Country tour, we have exclusive access to Stonehenge where you will take part in a sacred ritual led by a Druid priestess. Ronald Hutton, a leading authority on ancient and medieval paganism, magic, and the Arthurian myths will guide us around Glastonbury and Maria Wheatley will teach us how to dowse for energy lines in the great stone circle at Avebury. The ten day Irish tour will feature well-known Wiccans, Janet Farrar and Gavin Bone, who will spend two days with us during our visit to the Boyne Valley. Travelling with a small group (12 max) and with plenty of time to relax, wander, explore, meditate and experience the power and energy of the special places we visit, you can be assured of a unique and exceptional holiday experience.

It is a week today that we depart London for Cornwall for the West Country tour. Three people on the West Country tour are doing it once more and quite a few people from former tours are coming on our first tour of Scotland. Everyone coming on tour is so excited and many chatting to each other on Facebook (I introduced those who wished to do so) about cameras, packing, etc. Roll on the 21st of August. And then Scotland in September. At the end of the Scottish tour, I am going to Sweden and Denmark to research a future Viking tour. So so much to look forward to. The first photo is of our guest guide for Scotland, Laura Daligan. The second is the beautiful Isle of Lewis, the third is Wells Cathedral taken from the garden of the Bishop's Palace. And the last is the burial mounds at Old Uppsala, Sweden. The church in the background was built on the site of the pagan temple. Many Blessings to all.

Just under a month now before the West Country tour starts followed by the tour of Scotland. Everyone is so excited as am I. Can't wait once again to show people the wonderful places we visit. The first photo is a mace head one can hold in your own hands at the Tomb of the Eagles on Orkney. The second photo is of the Neolithic village, Skara Brae, also on Orkney. The third photo shows tour participants relaxing sitting by the White Horse of Uffington. The last photo was taken at Stonehenge after our Druid ritual. Roll on 21 August which is our first day when we drive from London to beautiful coastal village, Boscastle, in Cornwall.

Can't wait for our first Scottish tour. Here are some photos for those who are coming on tour or those who would like to in the future to whet the appetite. These photos are of beautiful St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall, Orkney. Just love the statue of St Magnus given to the people of Orkney by the people of Norway which shows him standing on a representation of his ego. Wonderful.

A program about Orkney was aired on SBS last night and includes the Tomb of the Eagles which we will be visiting on our tour of Scotland next year. The two ladies being interviewed are the daughters of the man who discovered the site and who now run the Visitors Centre for the Tomb. Lovely ladies who were very kind to me when I visited last year. Unfortunately, this is only available to watch for those who live in Australia.

Thrilled to let everyone know that there is lots of interest in our 2017 tours next year and we already have quite a few bookings for both the West Country and Scotland tours. If you plan on joining us or are thinking of doing so, please book as soon as you can to reserve your place. A facial reconstruction is made of a young woman who died more than 3,700 years ago.

Am so pleased to announce that bookings are now open for the August/September 2017 Scotland and West Country sacred site tours. This will be our eighth season and our inaugural tour of Scotland. The tours are especially designed for those who have a love of history, a passion for the mystical, and a desire to visit some of the most beautiful and sacred places in these most ancient lands.

Combining well-researched historical and archaeological information with the assistance of expert guides, we shall explore myth and legend, visit holy wells, stone circles, pagan temples, ancient castles and settlements, pretty villages and passage tombs. We have private access to Stonehenge where the group takes part in a Druid ritual and will also be doing special rituals at Calanis Stone Circle and the Ring of Brogdar in Scotland.

Other highlights of the tours include two days spent with our guide for Scotland, Helen Woodsford-Dean who specialises in pagan tours of Orkney and who will facilitate the ritual at the Ring of Brogdar. We are also privileged to spend the best part of a day with Professor Ronald Hutton who takes us on a wonderful tour of Glastonbury. Rituals and meditations will be facilitated by tour guides, Wiccan Priestess Christine Casey and our regular guest guide, Bev Murray, a Wiccan High Priestess who will also conduct workshops and give tarot readings during the tour.

Travelling with a small group (12 max) and with plenty of time to relax, wander, explore, meditate and experience the power and energy of the special places we visit, you can be assured of a unique and exceptional holiday experience.

It is so great to be able to take people to beautiful places, do ritual together and just have a truly wonderful time - so many laughs. A truly wonderful group this year. Love you all.

Yours truly and David, our wonderful sometimes driver, good friend and travel agent extraordinaire who takes the bookings and organises accommodation etc etc. for the tours. Without David and his lovely wife Kathy who've had so much faith in me from day 1, the tours would never have started in the first place. Thank you so much my friends. This photo was taken at Rocky Valley, Cornwall and if you look closely you can see the two labyrinths carved into the rock face.

On SBS this week, the first episode of Neil Oliver's program, Sacred Wonders of Britain began with beautiful St Nectan's Glen which we visit on the West Country tour. The next sacred place shown was Wayland's Smithy which we also visit and where Neil spoke to Professor Ronald Hutton about the significance of this wonderful sacred place. I noticed in the credits that Ronald worked as a consultant for the program. We are so incredibly fortunate to have Ronald as our guest guide for Glastonbury. The program also included a section about Avebury, West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury, all on our West Country itinerary. There are still places left on the West Country and Irish tours in September. For detailed information about the tours, visit www.dragonseyetours.com.

Neil Oliver goes on a journey to reveal the sacred face of Britain, an ancient landscape of belief and ritual that still lies hidden just below the surface of the modern world. In the first episode, Neil is in search of the very first stirrings of religion in Britain. In the south of England and on…
