Muchos de ustedes han preguntado cómo nos sentimos en el sitio de la erupción: ¿Cómo fue el olor, el calor, el ruido? Te daremos algunas respuestas cortas.
1. El olor no era tan malo ya que la mayor parte del tiempo el viento estaba en la otra dirección. Pero una vez que volvió encontramos un fuerte olor a azufre. Por supuesto que teníamos las máscaras de gas en (ver foto)
2. Podríamos llegar a ser muy cerca de la lava. Cuando estábamos cerca de un metro de la lava que era como estar al lado de un horno en una estufa. Cuando más cerca esté el calor era extremadamente alta.
3. El ruido en los cráteres era como un zumbido constante en un motor a reacción. La lava fluía muy lentamente y había un ruido extraño, una especie de crujido que es difícil de explicar.

Many of you have asked how we felt at the eruption site: How was the smell, the heat, the noise? We'll give you some short answers.
1. The smell was not so bad since most of the time the wind was off in the other direction. But once it turned we found a strong smell of sulfur. Of course we had the gas masks on (see photo)
2. We could get quite close to the lava. When we were about one meter from the lava it was like being next to an oven on a stove. When closer the heat was extremely high.
3. The noise in the craters was like a constant humming in a jet engine. The lava was flowing very slowly and there was a strange noise, some sort of crackle that is difficult to explain.
