did you miss Henry Stewart discussing his latest book THE STREETS OF BROOKLYN last week? Well, he'll be in Bay Ridge at the Bookmark Shoppe on Saturday, June 1, at 3pm, to discuss, sign and read from his portrait of the history, architecture and street life of the borough in the years after the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge—featuring a long walk down Third Avenue, Ridge Boulevard and Shore Road, back when a tramp might've sat against a tree and watched the bay while munching on a few tomatoes pilfered from local farms.

See you there!

Signed copies already available at the Bookmark Shoppe, or you could order it on Amazon (but support our local businesses if you can!).

Photo from Radio Free Bay Ridge, showing Henry with host Dan Hetteix. Their conversation was recorded for a future episode; follow RFBR to stay updated on when it'll be released!

We'll celebrate the launch of Henry's new book on May 14 at Barrow's Intense in Industry City.https://www.eventbrite.com...

The Streets of Brooklyn features profiles of dozens of, well, streets in Brooklyn in the years after the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge, from the street life to the architecture and history. There are Saturday shoppers on Myrtle Avenue and Sunday gamblers on Baltic Street; handsome villas on Washington Avenue and shanties on Columbia Street; the glories of Shore Road and the defilements of the Gowanus Canal.

We'll do another event at the Bookmark Shoppe in the coming weeks, but for now you can pick up a signed copy there, or order one on Amazon.
