What else can we say but THANK YOU as we say farewell to JH Bards 1.0 . . . In anticipation of our move to Blacksburg, this will be the last weekend we're open to the public in Fairlawn. Normal hours each day this weekend - Thursday and Friday 4:00 - 8:00, Saturday Noon - 8:00, and Sunday 1:00 - 6:00. It'll be a bittersweet goodbye to where it all started. Too many folks to thank in this post - we'll give credit where it's due in the very near future. We hope you'll come out this weekend and say a fond farewell!

We are elated to announce that we've added to our medal collection! Earlier this year we submitted our 7-Year Toasted High Rye, our Maple Whiskey, and our Toasted Virginia Single Malt into The South's Best competition, based in Charleston, SC. We just received the results:
- High Rye won Gold, scored 93 points, and was named Best in the State of Virginia
- Maple Whiskey received a Silver medal
- Toasted Single Malt received a Silver medal

The Single Malt previously won Gold in the Denver International Spirits Competition (2022) so that makes 2 medals for our show pony.

A big thanks to the judges and folks who were responsible for hosting the competition. Being rewarded for hard work means so much and we appreciate the recognition!

While we always have our Maple and Single Malt on the shelf, we're down to 9 cases of the High Rye until it is G-O-N-E. Stop by the tasting room today, or the on Saturday to pick up a bottle!

My big day included a new venture (for me). I’m looking forward to 2024!

Welcome to the family! Today marks a significant event in the life cycle of JH Bards. Today, our ownership went from two to three as Douglas Garnett-Deakin joins the team. We’d like to thank Doug for his investment and, more importantly, his faith in our vision. 2024 is shaping up to be an amazing year and we’re glad Doug and his wife, Phyllis, are along for the ride!

It’s bottling day again! We will be releasing the penultimate edition of our Toasted Barrel Finished High Rye Whiskey this Friday evening!

Aged seven years in the original American White Oak barrel, this 95% rye is then finished for six months in a custom toasted barrel from our friends at Speyside Bourbon Cooperage in Atkins, VA.

Just in time for family gatherings and gift giving season, this single barrel release will certainly sell out fast. We won’t be producing another batch until 2026, when we reach that 10 year mark.

Available starting Friday November 10th at the distillery and online for pickup or delivery. Please note shipping is only available within the state of Virginia.
