Youโre invited to experience this cultural event series, now entering its 2nd year, at the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation-owned Best Western Plus Tin Wis Resort in Tofino.
Your evening begins as you enter a Tla-o-qui-aht-inspired art immersion. Enjoy a traditional-inspired dinner and be immersed in Tla-o-qui-aht culture through performative storytelling, dance, song, and art.
Following the Nuu-chah-nulth principles of his-shuk-nish-tsa-waak (we are all one), naaสuu welcomes everyone to come feast together.

Honouring Our Ancestors
A traditional powwow dancer for thirty years, Mike Retasket honours the ancestors through movement. Each dip and hop on the grasslands is his way of saying thank you to the ones who came before; each feather he wears is a designation of responsibility to those who are yet to come.

The drum is one of the oldest communication tools.
It was used for two-way communication long before the advent of the telephone and sends an immediate message to anybody who can hear it.
For the Indigenous peoples of present-day British Columbia, drums are more than communication tools and musical instruments; they are tools for a lifelong connection to and relationship with all living things and the Creator.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is an opportunity for each of us to recognize and commemorate the devastating legacy of Canada's residential institutions. Today and beyond, we encourage BC residents and travellers to reflect, learn, and connect with the diverse and living cultures of Indigenous Peoples: First Nations (status and non-status), Inuit, and Mรฉtis in this province.
Seek firsthand experiences and meaningful education to inspire your learning and ensure that this never happens again. Participate in a conversation, visit a cultural centre, or attend an event in your area. Stand for truth and reconciliation with active learning and direct action.
Here are more ways you can effect change:
1. Observe and participate in Orange Shirt Day. Wearing orange is a simple gestureโa visual cue and an easy action to keep reconciliation alive.
2. Know whose land youโre on. Educate yourself and look for ways you can support the rights, wellness, and economy of Indigenous communities.
3. Be a sensitive, respectful, and grateful traveller.
4. Discover your call to actionโtoday is dedicated to creating opportunities for Canadians to honour residential institution survivors, their families, and communities.
5. Educate yourself. Learn more by attending online and in-person events, and by reading key documents and Indigenous literature.
6. Donate to support residential school survivors and invest in Indigenous economies.

Seeing the great bears of the Pacific Northwest is not an everyday occurrence for most and the essential BC experience for many. It is a journey that requires planning and the guidance of local Indigenous guides who can lead you into the pristine sanctuaries of grizzly bears and the wealth of the forests and waters that are their home.
Indigenous guides ensure safety and respect for guests, bears, and the environment with boat access into sacred spaces just outside the rush of modern life.
