Harshakala National Handloom Expo at Jalahalli Bangalore

Weavers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Orissa Westbengal, Jammu and Kashmir and other states of India are participating in the exhibition. Handloom products in silk, cotton and wool are being showcased. This Handloom Expo is Jointly organized by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and Department of Handlooms and Textiles Government of Karnataka

Gulmarg Gondola in Gulmarg, is a high altitude cable car. The two-stage gondola lift ferries about 600 people per hour to and from Kongdoori Mountain, a shoulder of nearby Apharwat Peak. The first stage transfers from the Gulmarg resort at 2,600 m (8,530 ft) to Kongdoori Station in the bowl-shaped Kongdori valley. The second stage of the ropeway, which has 36 cabins and 18 towers, takes skiers to a height of 3,747 m (12,293 ft) on Kongdoori Mountain, a shoulder of nearby Afarwat Peak (4,200 m (13,780 ft)).

The Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Limited (KSMDMCL) organises the Mango Mela. Wide varieties of mango like Badami (alphonso), Raspuri, Sakkargutthi, Sendhoora, Mallika, Malgova and Imam Pasand would be available at the mela where mango lovers can directly purchase the fruits from the farmers.

Republic Day Stamp Released on Jan 26 1950

Stamp 1: A Boy and Girl watching a procession of cavaliers carrying flags and blowing trumpets which herald India's attainment of full nationhood (2 Annas)

Stamp 2: A quill dipped into an inkpot with a number of leaflet in the background inscribed in Hindi with Mahatma Gandhi's favorite hymn Raghupathi Raghavan Rajaram and is illustrative of India's nation building programme in the realm of education (3.5 Annas)

Stamp 3: An ear of grain set vertically in the centre with an indigenous ploughshare placed diagonally behind a star-spangled background and is symbolic of India as an essentially agricultural country (4 Annas)

Stamp 4: An indigenous handloom, symbolic of India's cottage industry and of her progressive revolution with each round of the wheel. In the background is a piece of cloth which is hand spun and hand woven and which in its turn symbolizes the importance of charka in India's rural economy (12 Annas)
