"Vertigo" - Yosemite Falls is fairly impressive as far as waterfalls go. Among the tallest in the world, and certainly ranking with the most beautiful as well. Its mighty rumblings can be heard miles away echoing off the Valley walls. It's continually impressive, yet I don't think I've ever been quite as impressed by this falls as I was recently when I hiked to Fern Ledge, a small outcropping that sits partway up the sheer drop of the Upper Falls. Peering out into the abyss and seeing the falls crash into granite a few hundred feet below is a humbling experience that is only underscored when you crane your neck back and see another thousand feet of water above you dancing in space.
This photo was taken looking straight up at the top of the falls. I used a 10-stop ND filter to achieve a 20-second exposure for the shot, giving the image this dreamy feeling of dynamic movement.
Thanks for looking and if you like this photo I'd be honored if you hit SHARE!
