I came across this elegant, converted 16th century palazzo recently while researching villas in Puglia for a client. If you haven't been there, it is the region known as the 'heel of Italy's boot' and increasingly sought-after for family holidays due to its Mediterranean climate, alluring beaches, food, culture and charm.

This particular villa is brilliant for those who prefer to be off the main tourist track, to slow down and to experience a bit of typical southern Italian life on holiday. Expect church bells, vespa buzz and siesta opening hours, with local shops, bars and restaurants within strolling distance.

With its arty style, pretty garden and 20 metre outdoor pool, the scene is set for relaxation. Convivial and spacious, it takes up to 14 guests in 4 double bedrooms and 2 triple bedrooms, as well as outside dining, a barbecue and a wood burning oven, so ideal for a family gathering.

Discreetly situated in a small town in Salento, the beach and summer buzz of Otranto is a 15-minute drive away or head to the Alimini lakes a bit further along the coast.

My latest villa finding mission covered Puglia and Provence for 3 families planning a week together in August 2025, including 8 kids of various ages.

It took a while to research and find´the one’ but here it is! Spacious and well equipped, it has a fabulous pool at its heart, as well as a ping pong table, baby football and a boules court - so ideal for all ages. It is easy to see why this superb villa near Lake Cassien in Provence was a clear favourite.

Often villas of this size have too many double bedrooms and not enough single beds for older children, but this one does. The location means easy access to pretty villages, water sports and beaches too - perfect.

Here is a bit of inspiration for your summer holiday 2025. ☀️🥂

This was my client’s favourite villa out of the two she booked in the South of France last August.

Despite being tucked away down a country road, the location of the villa is excellent - it’s just 15 minutes walk away from a fabulous, sandy beach and restaurants. It’s also near St Tropez and Pampelonne beach. The villa was clean and you can see that the style is not flashy but it’s well furnished and comfortable with air conditioning in the bedrooms - ideal for her family of 4. She particularly loved the fantastic view. The rental price was within budget too 😊.

Setting up Rachel’s Villa Holidays in 2010 was a natural step from a full time position in a luxury villa company to working for myself. Having learned the ropes running an Italian villa programme for 10 years, I knew I was ready to run my own villa holiday business.

I started off by organising villa holidays to a number of destinations. I then began to specialise. My niche is now villas in Italy and France, the two countries I know and love. It is where I have lived and worked and where I spend my own holidays with my family. It is where I have the best contacts with exceptional villas in areas of outstanding natural beauty too.
