Whenever I meet someone who has a highly regimented diet or lifestyle habit, I know I am with someone who has a fear of letting life unfold.
🌿
Some people develop this fearful attitude to life because of trauma in childhood, some develop this as they go through challenges like a broken relationship, failure in business, loss of a job, a pet or a loved one.
🌿
Extreme diets, exercise, strict discipline with no wiggle room is often a short term coping mechanism to the sense of helplessness and anxiety one feels in the face of uncertainty.
🌿
Short term coping mechanisms are good only for short term, to feel a sense of accomplishment, to feel we can steer our life to safety but making a habit of continuing these excesses into years and decades leaves us empty.
🌿
Do you know anyone who has soulless eyes? A face that don’t sparkle with curiosity and enthusiasm anymore, a mind that is closed and unwelcome to new ways of being.
🌿
In letting life crush us, we realize that the point we thought would have killed us was precisely the point when Grace came pouring down.
🌿
If life is pain then life is also the medicine. The very thing that hurts, heals.

A good cup of masala spice chai tea is like a good piece of Bhangra 🎶, it should make you jump up and dance!
🌿
Watch the video for a fail proof formula for making chai that will win hearts everywhere you go.
🌿
While I enjoy a gentle calming breakfast brew with a spot of milk, on cold afternoons I crave for the spicy robust tea of rural North India.
🌿
This Ayurvedic Chai will wake you up, shake you up and make you go “balle balle” 🎶
🌿
I see Ayurveda influencers denouncing this method of chai making as unrefined, unhealthy etc etc preferring the British way of the 3 minute brew in the tea pot, with some spices thrown on top and calling it “ayurvedic” 💁🏽♀️
🌿
Madame et Monsieur, I say “BS!!”
🌿
This pukka stove top brewed Chai is the soul of India. If anyone is too sick to digest this, you SHOULD be under a physician’s care.
🌿
Tea is a stimulating beverage, there is place for such juicy joys in our daily diet.
🌿
When clients cringe while sharing with me that they love a cup of tea, I see the damage done by irresponsible social media influencers.
🌿
A healthy individual who easily is able to digest wholesome meals, exercises moderately several times a week and sleeps well, can eat anything their body loves.

Ayurveda is about pleasure and contentment. That’s the first step to health and longevity.

Mother Earth is slowly and steadily moving into the Southern Solstice.
🌿
Hemanta or Winter from mid November to January is the most strengthening to our constitution.
🌿
The Vata, Pitta and Kapha energies focus into the center of our bodies, revving digestion and immense appetites (of all kinds 😉)
🌿
It is important to switch the diet or else the body will consume itself and send the Vata in a tizzy. Vata dominant body types especially feel the brunt of Winter if they do not honor the new found hunger and appetite and continue as before.
🌿
This is no time to go on crazy diets or think of losing weight, it would be going against the natural order. Don’t say, I did not warn you! 😎😗
🌿
if summer was about light easily digestible, Winter is about nourishing, oily, sweet, tart and savory. Load up on the gravy and biscuits, the Acharyas approve! 👍🏽
🌿
Switch to freshly harvested whole grains, fresh brewed wines and beers, milk, meat and bone broths, hardy winter root veggies, everything you wouldn’t dare eat in Summer.
🌿
Spend time in the Sauna, go for long walks in the Sun, get as many taila sesame or mustard oil Abhyangams as possible, if temperatures drop near zero in your region.
🌿
Inhaling steam and medicated smoke is great for the body during winter, Nov - Jan. I like to fumigate with organic Dhoop sticks during this time.
🌿
As we are moving through Fall or Sarat Ritu, we must wrap up any cleansing and purging to hunker down and put on a few protective inches in winter.
🌿
Right now get your fill of cleansing, fat reducing astringent and bitter tasting foods, be ready to unapologetically transition into fat, tart, sweet and salty, come November.
🌿
I am feeling my Pitta rise, the Sun is crystal sharp and blazing till late afternoon as the Earth tilts on her axis.
🌿
Right now stay cool, however avoid yoghurt and wear a beanie early mornings and evenings when temperature drops unexpectedly.
