Have no fear. We are still out adventuring. Just in different ways and rigs. Life has been busy with a move, death summer heat which seems like it will never end, and well work (sorry for cursing) sometimes gets in the way of other plans.
We have added yet another trailer to our family. This one will stay on the dirt and paved roads.
The first modification was to improve the 12 volt system. The old deep cycle battery has been removed and replaced with a 200ah LiFePO4 battery along with a new controller for the roof top panels (100 watts) and another controller for our portable setup. This should allow us to run the 12 volt fridge and lighting for extended weekends without shore power. The portable connection can handle up to 600 watts of solar. We currently have 200 but will expand that if required.
This trailer will be mostly used at our property down in Sonoita, AZ. We needed something we could stand up in and has AC even if we have to use a generator. I am fairly committed to doing a bunch of work down in Sonoita to make our little setup better. It’s a beautiful part of AZ and we need to spend more time down there.
Anyway, dream it, do it. We know these trailers are simple and sit a majority of the time unused. That’s ok. For now we will be keeping our 2019 Expedition trailer by Off Grid Trailers. But who knows maybe in 2025 it will go up for sale and I will simplify our off road adventure setup to the 4Runner and our OZ Tent.
