Cristal Cabanillas Although I’m a graphic designer by profession, I like to think of myself as a Fine Arts designer.

I have just begun my search as an artist according to the way I see my work is progressing on a “developing continuum.” Milton Glaser brings to light how designers may present the “body” of their work more as a series of component parts. He believed that one thing literally leads to another and to another and to another, developing a pattern of growth, not just a product. This philosophy seemed to

reconcile much of my pursuit during grad school, which oftentimes felt very confusing and intangible. I realized that I should look at graduate school and the entire experience as an “adventure incorporating the false starts, wrong roads, and missed turns that are part of every adventure. If the miraculous is to be found or made, it will be in the searching.” (from Introduction by Ralph Caplan)
