We support an organisation called PE Mental Health Society. They have facilities and projects all around Port Elizabeth. This particular one is in New Brighton.

Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of a mine, that the child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.

— Nelson Mandela

With that being said, the Gaveliers went to visit Cowan High School to shine some light on public speaking and leadership. Needless to say, fun was had with these beautiful people 🙂

And a woman spoke, saying, “Tell us of Pain.” And he said:

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.

It is the bitter portion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.

Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy
in silence and tranquility:

For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by
the tender hand of the Unseen,

And the cup he brings, though it burns your lips,
has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears.

HALALA! HALALA! HALALA!
Besides graduating and attaining her degree in accountancy, Nomzamo Mbatha's dress features the helpline of The South African Depression and Anxiety Group.

Mental health is a cause we care about and support as the Nelson Mandela University Gaveliers Club. We are working with the Nelson Mandela University Psychology Society with the aim of educating as well as to create awareness of this issue.

Keep an eye out on our page for future events or open dialogue related to the cause - mental health awareness . Especially the fundraisers for the Port Elizabeth Mental Health Society. The organisation has projects around Ibhayi, Port Elizabeth (New Brighton, Motherwell and Zwide) which aid, educate and in doing so create jobs for people with disabilities.

Mama Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela Mandela, officially know as the mother of the Nation, played a crucial and a significant role in the liberation of African people, she fought for equality, she fought against apartheid government and ensured that South Africa is a democratic country.

Her strength, courage and wisdom made her one of the African Women that took to the streets to fight for justice and liberation of other African People people. In 1970's she became a mother, a mentor and a leader to young South Africans that took the struggle to the streets in demand for equality and justice among Africans.

Today, we have many women in leadership like our own Vice Chancellor Dr Sibongile Muthwa because of the struggle that was championed by Mama Winnie and and other women like Lillian Ngoyi, Albertina Sisulu, Charlotte Maxeke.

Mama Winnie you have played your role, you have demonstrated that through dedication and determination anything is possible. You lead when it was not fashionable to lead, you dedicated your life to the struggle, you sacrificed your life and time to ensure that Africans, Blacks in particular are free.

Lala ngoxolo Mama womgquba ugqatso ulufezile, uze usikhonzele apho uya khona. Sisizwe so Mzantsi Afrika sinxunguphele kodwa sibulela uThixo ngobomi bakho🙏
